Coronavirus Diary

Today is Thursday, May 19, 2022. Today we learn that the January 6 committee has photo evidence from inside the White House regarding what the principal insurrectionist was during that infamous day. This blockbuster of a story appears in today’s online edition of RawStory by Bob Brigham entitled “Jan. 6 committee has photo evidence from inside the White House: report.”

Two sources familiar with the evidence have stated, “Congressional investigators have obtained a batch of official White House photographs, including images taken on January 6, 2021,” as Politico reported today. The sources have also pointed out that “At least some of the photos were taken by official White House photographer Shealah Craighead.” Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson confirmed that the panel had received some of Craighead’s photos, though he declined to describe their content. Possibly because of their explosive nature, I would dare say. Here we might have images of the previous president reacting with glee to scenes of carnage at the Capitol where 140 officers were injured and five people had died. If this doesn’t stain him forever, I don’t know what will: as everyone knows, “a picture is worth a 1,000 words,” and these photos can be particularly damning for the last “president.”

Politico reported that “The panel has been amassing evidence of Dumpf’s movements and actions that day, attempting to reconstruct a minute-by-minute account of what the former president was doing while rioters smashed through police lines and disrupted the counting of electoral votes – the last step in finalizing Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory before his inauguration.” Committee investigators have now interviewed nearly all of the attendees of Dumpf’s 11:10 a.m. Oval Office meeting, including Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., and his vociferous girlfriend (who really cares!) Kimberly Guilfoyle. Dumpf reportedly spoke to then-Vice President Mike Pence at 11:20 a.m.

What Dumpf tweeted out at 2:24 p.m. in which he criticized his own vice president for not doing what he should have done to “protect our Country and our Constitution” (which was clearly unconstitutional altogether) is being viewed by the select committee as serving as a catalyst of the day’s worse violence. Politico reported that “Multiple defendants charged with breaching the Capitol pointed to that tweet as a driver of the mob’s fury.” Some video footage taken by news media and by rioters themselves shows the crowd reacting to the tweet, which posted 10 minutes after the first wave of people entered the Capitol through a window shattered by a demonstrator wielding a stolen police shield.

So, as the saying goes, “the plot thickens” as we get closer to those public hearings promised by the January 6 committee investigating the insurrection.

In connection to the ongoing January 6 investigation, there is news coming out today that the Jan. 6 select committee says it has reviewed evidence that reveals at least one repugnican lawmaker, Rep. Barry Loudermilk (huh!) of Georgia, gave a tour through the Capitol the day before Dumpf’s mob attacked the building.

In reaching out to the now-sought-after lawmaker, Chair Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) and Vice Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) wrote to Loudermilk, “We believe you have information regarding a tour you led through parts of the Capitol complex on January 5, 2021.” This startling news is covered in an online Politico article by Nicholas Wu and Kyle Cheney entitled “Select committee says GOP lawmaker led Capitol tour day before Jan. 6 attack.”

Congressional investigators have now requested a voluntary meeting with Loudermilk next week. What is so priceless about this new revelation regarding a possible tour through the Capitol being conducted by a sitting Congressman is that repugnicans have publicly claimed that there were “no tours, no large groups, no one with MAGA hats on.” (Maybe the “deplorables” hid their hats on their testicles!) “Loudmouth” himself criticized Democrats for accusing them of leading “reconnaissance tours” through the Capitol and actually had the balls to file a complaint with the House Ethics Committee against the group of Democratic lawmakers who were pointing fingers at their repugnican lying colleagues.

Now the committee noted that “Loudmouth” is a member of the House Administration Committee and that their review of the footage “directly contradicts that denial.” Isn’t this just grand exposing so much more hypocrisy on the part of repugnicans during that horrible day in our history? If “Loudmouth” refuses to comply with the committee’s request, he should be subpoenaed. All of the other repugnicans who denied there were tours are complicit in the attack against the Capitol that day. Really now, shouldn’t there be serious repercussions for these patently anti-American politicians? Why are they allowed to still pursue their traitorous agenda?

The nation deserves to see this photographic evidence to grasp how morally corrupt this guy really is. Let the Justice Department finally wipe that smirk off his rotund face!

Today the highlight of the day was having a locksmith come to the apartment around 11:45 a.m. to repair the front door; for the last two days, we ran the risk of locking ourselves in the apartment because the doorknob was locking for some reason. There were a number of times where I had to pull the door open when Elliot was unable to pry the door open. I called the management company yesterday to acquire the services of their in-house locksmith and the company never called after I phoned yesterday. So I called management again today after 10, and this time, I got the number of the locksmith company which actually called sometime in the morning. I was informed that someone would come between 12 and 1:30 p.m. And they certainly did! The doorbell rang downstairs before 12 and I buzzed the serviceman in. The locksmith whose name was “Hymie” was very personable and asked me what the problem was. I immediately showed him how the brass doorknob tightens so quickly and, for one brief moment, Hymie had trouble opening the door from inside. So Hymie took off the front doorknob and loosened it with a screwdriver. After doing this small maneuver, the doorknob failed to tighten when the door was closed. I went out several times to see if the keys worked in both locks and, miraculously, they did. At least one project is now finished! The kitchen still awaits final touches.

Doesn’t this sound so exciting? Sure; you can visibly yawn now. My story about the locksmith encounter is finished. The other good news is that my son did get home safely yesterday, even though it was I who had to text him sometime this morning. Also, Jocelyn appears her regular self. She is sleeping more, but this could be just an indication of her approaching her senior years. Next month she will celebrate her 12th year, hopefully.

The weather for this weekend will definitely be air-conditioning weather. Both days are supposed to be in the high 80s: Saturday’s temperature is supposed to be 87 degrees, while Sunday, the temperature is forecasted to be 84 degrees. What’s going on here? Here we’re poised to slide into summer at a quickening pace – at least for this weekend. To illustrate the difference in climate from day to day, I resorted to wearing a light jacket today. I also wore long pants, while Elliot bravely wore shorts outside.

Tomorrow, the day’s high will only be 68 degrees, according to my smartphone weather app. Rain is also forecasted, unfortunately.

Enjoy your Friday anyway.

Stay safe and be well.
