Today is Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Let’s cut to the chase: There’s been another massacre this time in Texas, the home of the disreputable Gregg Abbott who has made it so much easier to carry guns in his dangerous state. Today another disturbed 18-year-old shot up an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, killing 18 [this number has been updated, regrettably] students and 3 adults before being shot himself by police. This horrific incident is covered in an online article for ABC News entitled “14 students, 1 teacher dead after shooting at elementary school: Governor.” The suspect was a student at Uvalde High School, identified as Salvador Ramos, who had a handgun and also possibly a rifle, according to the complicit governor in the carnage. This latest mass shooting comes only 10 days after the Buffalo massacre at a local supermarket. The suspect allegedly shot and killed his grandmother before entering the school and again opening fire. I won’t excerpt what this governor said about the killings since I feel he’s just as complicit about making it easier to carry guns around in his state. The shooting occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. local time, police said.

Where are our lawmakers throughout all of this? I ask. What these politicians only care about is their blood money from the National Rifle Association (NRA) and I’m flabbergasted that, as the voting public, we do not even care that these monsters get reelected again and reelected. Why don’t we ever vote these people like Ted “Ooze,” Marco Rubio, and many, many others out of office? That’s the least we can do. They remain in office beholden to the NRA and offer no response to the pandemic of violence gripping this nation almost on a weekly basis, it seems.

I’m now listening to a clip of Chris Murphy of Connecticut talking on the Senate floor to urge his repugnican colleagues to do something, anything, about this situation!!! We must stand with him and demand this country do something – finally. “What are we doing?” he begs his repugnican colleagues over and over!! This country has more mass shootings than any other fucking country.

Haven’t we had enough of hearing the weary old line, “We offer our thoughts and prayers” from these cowardly politicians? Sandy Hook did not result in change, where 20 elementary students and six adults were mercilessly shot by a deranged gunman. Will this senseless killing in Texas spark change at all from a feckless Senate?

As a nation, we must reject repugnican deflection that will be relied upon by these cowards! They will claim mental illness is responsible for this massacre, not easy access to guns. Enough already! Let this incident result in something being done by Congress.

Just a reminder: a NRA conference is going on in Houston just days after the worst school shooting in the state that will be attended by the Trio of Terribles: Dumpf, Ted “Ooze,” and the governor of Texas, Greg Abbott. Isn’t that a ghoulish thought? There should be massive demonstrations outside the venue where these gun-loving citizens are meeting! It’s unthinkable that they would even go ahead with this event, given what just occurred in Uvalde, Texas.

President Biden is addressing the nation right now. He just said, “When in God’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby?” So, Joe, do something about this new tragedy! He called this violence “just sick.” He admitted that these mass shootings don’t occur anywhere else in the world. “Why are we willing to live with this carnage?” he wondered. “It’s time to act!” he related.

All I can say on this day is that I’m shaken to the core by this latest gun tragedy. There will be more of these tragedies if nothing is done by our worthless leaders in Congress!

It’s more imperative now to say, “Stay safe and be well,” given the explosion of violence in this land that keeps happening, day in and day out.
