Coronavirus Diary

Today is Monday, June 20, 2022, one day before the official start of summer. In conjunction with radiating heat, a new video from disgusting candidate Eric Greitens, who is former Missouri governor who is now running for Senate, has been blasted by decent folk for promoting potential violence among the nutcases out there who watch the ad that shows him pretending to hunt down members of his own despicable party. Do I need to add that he’s a fucking Republican? This ad should be banned by all social media outlets for violating all principles of decency, especially when this country is still in mourning for 19 schoolchildren who were slaughtered by a berserk gunman in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24. There are also 10 people killed on May 14 by a bigoted gunman in Buffalo, New York, that can’t be ignored either.

This alarming campaign ad put out by an irresponsible idiot running for office is covered by The Washington Post online article by Amy B. Wang entitled “Greitens slammed for ‘RINO hunting’ campaign ad.” In the egregiously offensive ad, Greitens announces this at the onset: “Today we’re goin’ RINO hunting,” which is the acronym used by the former criminal president to stand for “Republicans in Name Only.” This acronym is generally used by Dumpf for anyone who stands against his un-American views or opposes him for any reason.

The repulsive candidate is seen in the ad standing outside a home with a team of others dressed in tactical gear and whispers: “The RINO feeds on corruption and is marked by the stripes of cowardice.” Pure bullshit!

Greitens’s commando squad then busts open the door of the house, detonates smoke bombs inside, and storms through with their guns drawn. “Join the MAGA crew. Get a RINO hunting permit,” Greitens says, standing inside an apparently open house surrounded by smoke. “There’s no bagging limit, no tagging limit, and it doesn’t expire – until we save our country.” Fuck this blatant advocacy of violence in a political ad; it must be condemned by everyone. Greitens actually got it wrong in his declaration at the end – it’s people like Greitens and Dumpf that we have to save the country from, not designated RINOs in his warped mind.

Thank God the video was removed already from Facebook “for violating our policies prohibiting violence and incitement,” according to Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone, but, unfortunately, the ad remained on Twitter and YouTube as of early Monday afternoon.

About four hours after Greitens posted the disgusting ad, Twitter placed a warning label over the tweet, saying it “violated the Twitter Rules about abusive behavior.” Twitter has not removed the video, stating inexplicably that the company “determined that it may be in the public interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.” Why should the company determine that there is any “public interest” in the ad at all? Who does the company think the ad is influencing then? Some white-haired grandma sitting in her living room watching television or some deranged nut with a rifle who will be motivated to shoot some repugnican he or she considers to be a RINO? It’s the latter that the ad appeals to – without question!

This latest putrid political ad comes amid a spate of political violence and threats against public officials, orchestrated by the former president and his allies who conducted a baseless campaign of lying about the 2020 election being rigged against the worst president in modern history, and those in the GOP who have bravely spoken out against those assertions.

Tomorrow during the next televised hearing of the House select committee investigating the January 6 siege, the country will hear about how election administrators in at least 17 states have received threats of violence in the months after the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. One of the members on the committee, one out of two Republicans who are serving their country, and not their depraved party, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) shared with the media that his wife had received a letter in the mail threatening to execute his family, including their 5-month-old baby. Kinzinger is also one of 10 Republicans who broke with their party last year and voted to correctly impeach Dumpf, and has since been criticized by the insurrectionist and his allies as a “RINO.”

Kinzinger was interviewed Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” in which he spoke about the death threats his family and others have received, making this grim prediction, “There is violence in the future, I’m going to tell you.” He added, “And until we get a grip on telling people the truth, we can’t expect differently.”

This sorry excuse for a political candidate releases his inflammatory ad right after two high-profile mass shootings, in which 29 people were killed by high-powered firearms. “These and other shootings prompted protests across the country against gun violence and have sparked some bipartisan conversations in Congress about gun safety legislation.”

As expected, the ad itself drew fire from critics who warned that Greitens’s video could lead to real-world violence. Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Tex.) tweeted, “This is sociopathic,” which is definitely so true. He added, “You’re going to get someone killed,” which could be construed as prophetic knowing how many deranged people are out there who are ready and willing to kill for their perverted sense of nationalism. Another critic, the Democratic National Committee’s chairman, Jaime Harrison, called the video “radical . . . extreme . . . unhinged.” He got that right!

One other unlikely critic of the ad, former congressman Joe Walsh, who had the decency to leave the repugnican party as it is now constituted, mainly over his criticism of the Golden Idol, said he was not surprised by the ad and called out those in the GOP who still support the depraved criminal.

Walsh accurately calls out his GOP colleagues, saying, “To every Republican today who’s thinking about criticizing this ad: You cannot criticize this and still support Trump.” He further commented in a tweet, “There’s ZERO difference between Eric Greitens and Donald Trump. In fact, your cowardly embrace of Trump directly led to Greitens, and [Marjorie Taylor] Greene and [Lauren] Boebert, and . . .”

The character of this thug is unsurprisingly under question too. According to people who know this guy, Greitens has his own blemished history of violence – not so hard to fathom. He is a former Navy SEAL and has been accused by his ex-wife of domestic violence, including physical violence toward his children. Of course, he has denied those allegations. What else is he going to do in this situation? Tell the truth for once? – I doubt it.

Greitens has also a checkered political history as well, which is not so shocking, given the cheap shot he has taken with uploading such an abominable ad. He resigned as governor of Missouri in 2018 in disgrace after having an affair with a former hairdresser that included allegations of abuse and blackmail. Little Eric has been busy, hasn’t he? He launched his sorry campaign for Senate last year after Senator Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) announced he would retire at the end of his term.

The repugnican party continues to show its true disgusting side in that representatives for the party, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and even Senate Minority Leader “Bitch” McConnell all refused to respond to requests for comment regarding this offensive campaign conducted by a repugnican candidate for office. The cowards!

Where are we as a country where someone with the base character of an Eric Greitens can put out a campaign ad stoking violence against other members of the same damn party! Are we out of our collective mind? This is so morally repugnant that I’m at a loss for words for a change here!

This disturbing story has so upset me that I’m going to sign off now. It’s also getting late.

So happy first day of summer tomorrow.

I look forward to more blockbuster pronouncements coming out of the hearing tomorrow. The evidence will be more airtight against the former “president,” I assure you.

Stay safe and be well.
