Today is Monday, June 27, 2022, three days before the end of the month. Just when you thought you heard everything from the January 6 committee investigating the January 6, 2021, insurrection, news leaked out that the committee is having a surprise hearing tomorrow at 1 p.m. when it was supposed to have been in recess until July. What new explosive evidence must it have to announce a surprise hearing before the July 4th holiday? Will this be the ultimate smoking gun needed for the Justice Department to indict higher-ups in the Trump plot to overturn the 2020 election? Maybe even Dumpf himself? Everything will be revealed in due time.

As the continued catastrophic effects of last Friday’s Supreme Court ruling overturning a woman’s right to an abortion reverberate throughout the country, repugnician officials have gone full white supremacist over the weekend, which has resulted in the rest of the nation being exposed to their vile anti-American viewpoints as clearly as the noses on their faces. Is this what America wants in their elected leaders? In an online Vanity Fair article by Bess Levin entitled “Republican Officials Spent the Weekend Going Full White Supremacist.”

This brazen exposure of the repugnican plank was in full view on Saturday at a rally held by the Don in Illinois, where white Rep. Mary Miller said into a microphone, “President Trump, on behalf of all the MAGA [yecch!] patriots in America, I want to thank you for the historic victory for white life in the Supreme Court yesterday.” Yes, you have it right, folks, this repugnican showing her fealty to the January 6th insurrectionist said this horrible truth without retracting it.

However, after an onslaught of condemnation from practically everyone, Miller’s spokesman insisted to the Associated Press that the congresswoman from Illinois had misread her remarks to say the ruling was a victory for the “right to life.” Oh sure, if you believe that bullshit, then you would believe that I have a bridge to sell at a reasonable price. This stinking repugnican from Illinois actually said this about Adolf Hitler at a Moms for America event last year, “Hitler was right on one thing. Whoever has the youth has the future.” Did she really think this obscene remark would not have spurred a rash of criticism from listeners, so Miller later was forced to issue a statement claiming she was “sincerely” sorry for “any harm” her words caused. So Congresswoman, duh, don’t say them in the first place, you sorry excuse for a lawmaker.

Levin doesn’t believe the congresswoman who retracted her statement after the fact since she was talking before a group of people who would be receptive to such a point of view, given that the supreme racist was headlining the event. Levin details how examples exist of how the ex-president was an unabashed racist and how they could fill several books, starting with Dumpf’a characterization of former Black President Barack Obama as not native to this country; calling for the execution of five Black and Latino teenagers for the alleged rape and brutal assault of a white jogger in Central Park; telling four congresswoman of color to “go back” to the “totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came,” despite the fact that three quarters of those women “came from” the U.S.; banning travelers from seven predominantly Muslim nations from entering the country; throwing a “shit fit” over the removal of a statue of a Confederate general who thought Black people should be white people’s property; and reportedly calling white supremacists “my people.” Are these enough examples for you? A columnist for The Independent, Ahmed Baba, tweeted on Saturday, “Whether it was a slip or not, the audience heard ‘white life’ and didn’t flinch. They applauded.”

Meanwhile, Miller was not the only repugnican to put racism on full display over the weekend. Also, on Saturday, Republican Texas senator John Cornyn – in the view of many – called for the Supreme Court to reverse the ruling deeming racial segregation in public schools unconstitutional. Cornyn tweeted this: “Now do Plessy vs. Fergusson/Brown vs. Board of Education,” in a nod to the Supreme Court rulings that called segregated schools unconstitutional in the United States in 1954. Are these people for real?; obviously, with the Friday ruling, it behooves us to take these deranged repugnicans at their word. They are signaling their intentions as to how they imagine a new America once they are in power and woe to us if we actually elect them to positions of power – or keep them in power. Repugnicans would eagerly dismantle the underpinnings of democracy if allowed to. They must be stopped at the ballot box. Also, if they have committed a crime, they must be eventually charged with such an offense. They cannot receive a free ride. Americans would have less faith in their institutions if this were the case. Faith in the Supreme Court has really taken a nosedive since the ruling and appropriately so. This lack of faith in a once-considered impartial Supreme Court will continue as the court marches down the road of handing down far-right conservative opinions with no regard to longterm precedence.

Why not impeach some of these justices then as a possible solution to the present imbalance of equity on the Supreme Court, especially the longest-tenured sitting member, Clarence Thomas, for having a nut job of a wife who is known to have conspired with onetime White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to help her Golden Idol to overturn the 2020 election, and other Dumpf-appointed justices like Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch after they lied about upholding the decision permitting abortion to millions of women at their Senate confirmation proceedings? Shouldn’t these be considered impeachable offenses? Democrats must the ones to step up the heat to have these ethically challenged justices removed from the bench. Whether or not this can be done, given Democrats’ timidity in taking a proactive, aggressive stance with respect to anything, remains to be seen!

So just a thought here for your consideration.

So let’s see if tomorrow’s hearing yields more explosive revelations concerning the conspiratorial activities of the former president.
