Today is Friday, July 29, 2022, two days before the end of the month of July. Not to prematurely boast, but an optimistic online article dares to paint a grim picture for the ugly party known as repugnican for the November midterm elections in which this unholy party of extremists and fascists was originally predicted to win landslides in both the House and Senate races – but not now. The article entitled “An ‘unholy trinity of bad things’ are crippling the GOP’s midterm hopes: political analyst,” by Tom Boggioni, portrays a grimmer picture for this party of Trumpists in the midterm elections. The political analyst that the article references is John Heilemann, national affairs analyst for MSNBC and frequent contributor, who said earlier in the year that the Republican Party was poised for a “landslide” in the November midterm elections due to rising inflation and the declining popularity of the current President Joe Biden, but those hopes have now gone by the wayside because of what he called the “unholy trinity of bad things” that have emerged since then.
Speaking with “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough, the analyst suggested it would take a major sea change for the Party of Trump to take majority control in both chambers in Congress because they didn’t anticipate the impact of the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, the conservative Supreme Court gutting of Roe v. Wade protections, and the amount of damage the January 6 hearings would inflict upon the entire party.
Heilemann did say that Republicans were expecting to do well in November as recently as the spring and then that unholy trinity of bad things happened for repugnicans. The first happening was the mass shooting in Texas that raised the issue of gun control legislation that GOPers have never been supportive of, which has angered many, many Democrats in its wake. The second was the gutting of abortion rights for women that can now be the galvanizing issue for a majority of voters to reject all repugnicans at the ballot box this November. The last thing is the ongoing hearings being held by the House select committee that have put the former insurrectionist in the spotlight that is not at all the kind of limelight that this narcissistic demon would truly desire, which could put Democrats in a very good light to carve together a national message about repugnicans as being the party of extremists. (In fact, I believe I’ve already seen a hard-hitting ad put out by Democrats that paint Republicans as a party of traitors, if that’s the word that was used?) It should play millions of times on television until November. Heilemann said that Democrats could actually hold the House of Representatives or even limit their losses in the House of Representatives, which illustrates “how much Republicans have screwed this up.”
During the program, both Heilemann and Scarborough then mocked some of the GOP candidates who are flailing in the polls, with Heilemann pointing out that Trump-backed Mehmet Oz is trailing badly in Pennsylvania, with Heilemann laughing, “He’s getting beat right now by a candidate who had a stroke [ Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman] and wasn’t on the campaign trail in an active way for the last few months.” They both mocked Georgia senatorial candidate Herschel Walker who is a buffoon and a liar, undoubtedly. They say he’s both becoming a laughing stock.
Do you want another reason to despise the former president? As you might know, the former wanna-be dictator is presently hosting Saudi Arabia at his New Jersey Bedminster golf resort, along with other American golf pros who deserve the scorn of all Americans for this unholy grab of blood money. Does this man ever have any shame? I dare say he would never have any shame until he’s put in the ground. Let’s hope this obscene gesture of goodwill to an evil regime will hemorrhage any support he should get from other repugnicans and supporters. All we can ask of the former demagogue is “How much money are you receiving from the Saudis for hosting this event at your bloody resort?”
Tearing into the former president for hosting the event, Brett Eagleson, the founder and president of the advocacy organization 9/11 Justice, who lost his father on that horrific day, spoke to John Berman at CNN today, heaping scorn on the ex-president for choosing lucre over country for hosting the golf tournament at his resort.
An online article on the interview appeared for RawStory by Brad Reed entitled ‘He’s basically dead to them’: 9/11 family member says Trump is ‘hemorrhaging support’ due to Saudi golf tournament.” In his appearance with Berman, Eagleson said new documentation has shown that members of the Saudi government had roles in helping the men who would go on to kill nearly 3,000 Americans by flying into planes into the World Trade Center in the New York and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
The young bearded man said that there is documentation from the FBI showing that the Saudis did do it, “And we have a president who’s profiting from them and defending his decisions for making millions and millions of dollars. And one question I wish the media would ask is how much is the president, the former president, how much is Donald Trump personally benefitting from this relationship? How much money is he receiving for hosting this tournament?”
Berman did not hesitate to add that many 9/11 family members are Republicans who supported Dumpf in his past runs for the presidency. Eagleson concurred, but indicated that many of these people had had their support badly shaken by Dumpf’s present actions. Eagelson added that he is seeing that the former liar-in-chief is “literally hemorrhaging support.” He expanded on this, saying, “We have a lot of typical groups that you would expect to vote along the conservative lines, they say that the former president is basically dead to them, that he is aligning himself with an evil kingdom, an evil regime. He is putting money over America.” Too bad this young earnest leader of such an important advocacy group took this long to see the grifting nature of the ex-president. This guy has been doing this his entire 76 years on this planet. Let’s hope the January 6 hearings will result in the ex-president being truly “dead” to many other Americans. We can only hope. Maybe those deluded supporters of his will finally see who the real Dumpf is: the one that cares nothing about this country or its people, but only cares about making as much money as he can. Maybe he really thinks he can take it with him when he finally expires!
Segueing into something different, I thought I’d report on a new study that can give us pause: 2 in 3 Americans don’t think they’ll ever see positive social change in their lifetime, the results of a new poll. The results from this study appear in an online article for Study Finds by Chris Melore that paints a hopeless nation from the pessimism expressed by a majority of respondents. Melore says that, according to a new survey, “two-thirds of Americans don’t believe they’ll see positive social change during their lifetime.”
The survey polled 2,000 people and it reveals that 67 percent are not optimistic about seeing changes occur, but they still want to leave a better world for the next generation. When asked which social issues they currently find to be the most important, health care (43%) topped the list, followed closely by gun violence (41%).
Rounding out the top five are racial injustice and domestic violence (tied for third, at 39%) and poverty and homelessness (38%).
The survey was conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Avocado Green Mattress (Huh?). The survey coincided with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade – and 66 percent say reproductive rights are currently a higher priority for them.
The survey also looked at the actions people are taking to effect change. Over half the poll (57%) do believe their actions can truly effect social change, and 73 percent say that when it comes to creating change, small actions are just as important as big actions.
Fifty-one percent of respondents say they are actively taking action to help create social change – while another 25 percent would like to. When asked what actions they’re taking, 45 percent are boycotting brands or companies that donate to groups or support legislation they disagree with.
The same number (45%) are ensuring that, when they vote, the candidates they support are people who align with their ideals. Nearly as many (43%) are standing up for social issues they believe in by calling out loved ones who say things they personally disagree with. Respondents are also taking action by both voting and by educating themselves on these issues (tied at 42%).
“These issues are big and daunting, with no easy solutions,” says Mark Abrials, Avocado Green Cofounder and Chief Marketing Officer, in a statement. He adds, “But we also know that our collective individual, small actions can add up to a really big positive impact.”
So there you have it: a new survey that allegedly paints a grim picture of how Americans feel about social change. Do you tend to agree with how these people feel toward this country? And do you agree on how important these issues are in contributing to a divided America right now?
Oh, it’s another weekend, so have a good one.
Stay safe and be well.
