Today is Monday, September 12, 2022. Today’s headlines bring the explosive development of the Justice Department issuing subpoenas to more than 30 – 30! – people in the former insurrectionist’s inner circle as it continues its expanding investigation into the shameful events of January 6, 2021. Thus top officials from Dumpf’s political fundraising and former campaign operation are among dozens of people in the former President’s orb who received grand jury subpoenas in recent days – as the Justice Department intensifies its criminal investigation into the attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.
This story is reported on in a CNN online article by Gabby Orr, Kristen Holmes, Sara Murray, Kaitlin Collins, Evan Perez, Katelyn Polantz, and Zachary Cohen entitled “Justice Department subpoenas more than 30 people in Trump’s orbit in January 6 probe.” For such news, there had to be a committee of writers assigned to get the facts right in such a developing story.
Among the people subpoenaed are former Dumpf campaign manager Bill Stephen and Sean Dollman, who worked for Dumpf’s 2020 presidential campaign as chief financial officer, sources familiar with the situation tell CNN. These men have yet to respond to CNN’s requests for comment. They’re probably shitting in their pants right now!
Another target of a federal subpoena is Dan Scavino, Dumpf’s former deputy chief of staff, who has also refused to answer a request for comment. He is probably also shitting in his expensive pants.
In total, more than 30 individuals with nefarious connections to Dumpf have received the dreaded summons, according to two sources familiar with the subpoena targets. The summonses seek documents, and in some cases, testimony before a grand jury in Washington, D.C.
To illustrate where the Justice Department is going with issuing these broad subpoenas, it was reported that some of the summons were expansive, seeking information on a range of issues, including the fake elector scheme, Dumpf’s primary fundraising and political vehicle, Save America PAC, the organizing of the Dumpf rally on January 6, and any communications with a broad list of people who worked to overturn the 2020 election results.
As CNN has previously reported, investigators are examining the role of former DOJ lawyer Jeffrey Clark in pushing false election fraud claims on behalf of the Golden Idol.
Some of the subpoenas also requested any information that recipients previously turned over to the House select committee investigating the January 6th U.S. Capitol attack.
Bernard Kerik, a former New York City police commissioner who worked with Rudy “Ghoul”-iani to find evidence of voter fraud in the weeks following the 2020 election, also received one of the golden ducats for documents and testimony, his counselor confirmed to CNN.
Even the chair of Women for America First, Amy Kremer, said in a tweet over the weekend that her group, too, was sent a broad subpoena. Remember, that her horrid group hosted the infamous Dumpf rally outside the White House on that day which resulted in the mob attack on the Capitol. She deserves a subpoena like all of the other persons who received one in recent days.
More terrible news concerning the orange-haired nut job in the White House comes from a new book written by The New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman who writes in her upcoming book that Dumpf repeatedly told aides following his 2020 election loss that he would remain in the White House rather than let incoming President Joe Biden take over. This is not at all surprising to the many pundits including Bill Maher who predicted that the bad loser of a president would actually do this when confronted with the truth of his loss to Joe Biden.
One aide reported that Dumpf told him, “I’m just not going to leave.” Doesn’t he sound like a whiny toddler in a sandbox here? He allegedly told another aide, “We’re never leaving. How can you leave when you won an election?”
This new bombshell of a report is covered in an online CNN article by Jeremy Herb entitled “Exclusive: ‘I’m just not going to leave’: New book reveals Trump vowed to stay in White House.”
Dumpf’s juvenile insistence that he would not be leaving the White House, which has not been previously reported, adds new nuance to the chaotic postelection period in which the Whiner-in-Chief’s refusal to accept his defeat and numerous efforts to overturn the election outcome led to the January 6, 2021, siege on the U.S. Capitol by pro-Dumpf MAGA nutcases.
Haberman’s book, Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America is being released on October 4 – just in time for the midterms if anyone is still considering to vote repugnican.
The stunning revelations from the book come as investigators in the U.S. House and the Justice Department probe Dumpf’s refusal to cede power after the 2020 election. The House select committee investigating January 6 is planning more hearings and a final report this fall (I wish the report would come out right before the midterms – not after – to underline the extreme significance of their findings on a formerly corrupt president who is still free to continue his corrupt activities). This also comes on the heels of federal investigators having recently served almost 40 former Dumpf aides with subpoenas. (Rachel Maddow has now reported that the number is close to 40, not 30!)
Haberman, a CNN political analyst, has covered the corrupt Dumpf for her paper, The New York Times, since his disastrous 2016 presidential campaign. Her stories have unsurprisingly made her a frequent target of Dumpf’s vitriol on Twitter.
In the book, Haberman writes that the former “president” seemed to recognize that he had lost the election in the immediate aftermath of the November 3 race. He asked advisers to tell what had gone wrong. (Of course, in his pathological narcissistic state, he couldn’t recognize his tragic negligence on the COVID front that resulted in thousands of unnecessary deaths on his watch!) He supposedly comforted one adviser, saying, “We did our best,” which actually sounded normal in this case.
But at some point, Dumpf began resorting to his usual demented state when he abruptly informed aides he had no intention of departing the White House in late January 2021 for Biden to move in.
He was even overheard asking the chair of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, “why should I leave if they stole it from me?” I believe at this point, the Orange Menace had a complete schism in his mental state as he couldn’t believe he lost something as crucial as a presidential race, so that is when he decided to convince himself that the fucking election was stolen from him – when it certainly wasn’t.
The vow from the former demagogue that he would refuse to vacate the White House had no historical precedent, Haberman reports. His declaration left aides quite uncertain as to what he might do next: Maybe barricade himself in the White House on January 21? Maher even predicted this years ago that Dumpf would r carry out this last desperate, infantile action, thus resulting in his being carried out by law enforcement authorities. I would have loved for this to actually have happened – and probably millions of other Trump haters like myself!
The closest parallel to this occurring in a far earlier period came when Mary Todd Lincoln stayed in the White House for nearly a month after her husband, President Abraham Lincoln, was assassinated, the author noted. But we all know that Mrs. Lincoln had real mental issues – just like the 45th president himself.
What the book also reveals are new details on what those around the psychotic Dumpf were doing in the aftermath of an election loss he persistently refused to accept. Dumpf’s ghastly son-in-law, Jared Kushner, was reluctant to confront Dumpf on the loss, according to Haberman.
The one wan attempt at humor from the uncharismatic, cipher of a son-in-law to the former demagogue came when he encouraged a group of aides to go to the White House and brief the then-President, and Kushner was asked why he wasn’t joining them himself. He said that he likened the contingent to a deathbed scene, and then said, “The priest comes later.”
I humbly ask when is a priest going to finally offer last rites on the disaster known as the Dumpf brand? How much more evidence is needed to indict this man already?
Better news to report on the international front: six months since Putin launched his unsupportable invasion of Ukraine, the country has fired back with two counteroffensives – one in the South and the other in the East – carefully planned for months and supported by massive U.S. military aid packages. It now seems that the Russians are retreating from areas they once held. Let’s hope this continues and Putin will rue the day he decided to invade Ukraine.
It’s getting late here. But I’ll say a highlight of this average day, which should be celebrated for its ordinariness, because everyone is in fair health is that I received an email from the distant relatives whom I wrote to in mid-August asking to meet with them sometime here in Manhattan. I was just going through my junk email folder when I saw the message from the cousin who I wrote to on the recommendation of my London cousin, “Gordon.” She wrote today around 4:34 p.m. and I saw the note around 4:40, so it wasn’t that much later when she first composed her response to my snail mail letter. I was overjoyed! I had given up hope that she would ever write, even though it really wasn’t that long a time. It was less than a month, really, and it was the summer, when people are indeed away. Anyway, she apologized for her lateness in responding, and then did request that we meet up sometime in October since she and her husband will be away during the early days of October.
I already sent “Rachel” my response and she answered that note with a date, even, so for now, we’re meeting in Manhattan on Wednesday, October 19. I responded that the date she selected is fine with me. Originally, Elliot and I were supposed to be in Italy, but that is not the case now. Thus we’re free on that date; who would have something planned so far in the future anyway? Unless one were away or were having surgery, perhaps? Anyway, I’m really looking forward to this meeting. Who knows what it might lead to? Maybe this second cousin (?) could connect me with more family members living in New York afterward? Who knows of the possibilities that might exist with other family members living nearby? And now I have at least this one connection living in Manhattan. That is a real bonus, I would think.
Also, I’m reading a new fascinating book: Susan Faludi’s account of her 76-year-old trans father, In the Darkroom, that is an absorbing chronicle of an abusive father who decided to undergo sex reassignment surgery at the advanced age of 76 and live in Hungary, the country where he lived as a child, and reunite with her estranged daughter, the writer of the book. Not only is the book a fascinating account of her formerly macho father, it is also an account of the dark history of Budapest during the Second World War. She delves into the history of sex and identity research that is very insightful and chronicles the history of transgender reassignment throughout the ages. Faludi is the author of previous bestseller books, Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women and Stiffed: The Betrayal of the American Man. I have her latter book somewhere here on the shelf and when I finish this current book, I might investigate her earlier book.
Stay safe and be well.
