Today is Wednesday, September 14, 2022. As for some of those election results from Tuesday’s primary, election denier Don Bolduc has defeated establishment favorite Chuck Morse in New Hampshire’s GOP Senate primary. An analysis by Chris Cillizza for CNN views this Dumpf-backed troll as a win for Democrats in general. I hope he is not counting his chickens before they hatch, since a majority of delusional voters selected him as their candidate in the run-up to the general election right now. He writes that Bolduc’s victory deals a serious blow to “Republicans’ hopes of winning back the majority in the chamber this fall.”
Cillizza believes that Bolduc’s won “now joins the likes of Herschel Walker in Georgia, J.D. Vance in Ohio, Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania, and Blake Masters in Arizona as Republican candidates who ran – and won – primary campaigns by aligning themselves with the coalition built by the former president, but who appear to have much work to do when it comes to courting a general election audience.” As this really mattered with the embattled former Dictator-in-Chief: he did not endorse Bolduc or any other candidate in the New Hampshire primary.
Throughout the campaign, Bolduc embraced a series of controversial positions – most notably, that the 2020 election was stolen from the Orange Menace. At an August debate, Bolduc said he “signed a letter with 120 other generals and admirals saying Trump won the election, and damn it, I stand by [it],” which should have been rebuffed by any potential voter in New Hampshire. Another crazy position this election denier has advocated for is the repeal of the 17th Amendment, which allows voters to directly elect their senators. What does he want instead, one has to ask. After the FBI executed a proper search warrant on the ex-president’s Florida compound, Bolduc questioned whether the agency was needed.
So Bolduc won the primary, despite the vote of no-confidence from popular New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, who had endorsed less-insane Republican business owner and Senate President Chuck Morse. But this rejection of Bolduc by a sitting governor did not matter to repugnican voters, even. Sununu referred to Bolduc as part of a passel of “conspiracy-theory extremists” running for Republican Senate nominations around the country.
Let us hope and pray that these horrible extremist candidates do lose in the general election in November, as Cillizza here predicts. He writes, “Election forecasters are now predicting that Democrats have better than a 70% chance of keeping their Senate majority come November, a prospect that was nearly unthinkable when this election cycle began.”
Our country would definitely not be served if these delusional members of the party of Dumpf ever win elective office. They must be soundly defeated in November.
A disturbing online article about the Sunshine State should give people pause, as it outlines the sharp rise in white power and anti-Semitic incidents under the nose of autocratic and overall dickhead governor Ron “DeSant-ASS.” The article appears in the online edition of the Miami Herald and its author is Ben Wieder.
The rise in such incidents were contained in a new report from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the New York-based organization that tracks anti-Semitic instances and other extremist activity across the country.
According to the report, the state witnessed a 50 percent increase in anti-Semitic incidents in 2021 compared to the year before, and Florida had the third most anti-Semitic incidents of any state in the country, behind only New York and California. Nationally, 2021 saw a 34 percent increase in anti-Semitic instances across the country.
The ADL found that Florida is home to an overlapping network of white supremacists and anti-Semitic groups responsible for organizing numerous rallies and distributing hateful propaganda.
This fact is quite alarming for those of us who view the individuals who participated in the January 6, 2021, insurrection against the U.S. government as lawless jerks: Florida is home to the most people charged in connection with the January 6 attack, including members of the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers.
The report notes that 11 Florida members of the Proud Boys were among those arrested in connection with the storming of the Capitol, though the group’s then-leader, Enrique Tarrio, of Miami, didn’t participate because he had been arrested two days earlier in connection with the burning of a Black Lives Matter banner stolen from a church in Washington. Tarrio nevertheless faces charges of seditious conspiracy for his alleged role in planning the assault on the Capitol.
In addition, at least seven members of the Oath Keepers (one of Donald Trump’s favorite groups), arrested in connection with the January 6 attack are Florida residents. What is quite disturbing is that a leak of data from the group showed thousands of Florida residents had signed up for the organization, which specifically targets current and former members of the military and law enforcement for membership. It isn’t clear, though, how many of those people are active members and still live in the “Dark” State.
The ADL report highlights national ant-Semitic groups, such as the Goyim (Yiddish term for “non-Jew”) Defense League, which has a Florida presence and has organized events in Florida, as well as groups such as the National Socialist Movement – an openly pro-Hitler (gasp!) group – that is led by a Florida man, Burt Colucci, of Kissimmee.
Recently, at a January 2022 rally in Orlando near the University of Central Florida campus, three demonstrators, including Colucci, were charged with assault after allegedly attacking a Jewish student and stealing the phone he was using to record them. The three men are scheduled to go to trial at the end of October.
The Goyim Defense League, meanwhile, led a 15-day anti-Semitic tour in Central and South Florida in May 2021, in which the group demonstrated outside Jewish institutions and drove around in a van covered in anti-Semitic slurs. Here this odious group just flaunts their brazenness by wantonly brandishing their anti-Semitic smears on their vans.
I don’t know about you, but this anti-human trend observed in the state that birthed Ron DeSant-ASS is very alarming and disturbing. Unless more elected leaders call out these heinous groups with more frequency, they will continue to augment their numbers with other likeminded Floridians. This is totally unacceptable!
Sorry to end on a sour note here, but this is America in 2022, warts and all!
Stay safe and be well.
