Coronavirus Diary

Today is October 11, 2022. Now Dumpf lawyers are on the defensive after being caught lying for the former Liar-in-Chief to investigators and judges. One of those compromised lawyers – because everyone becomes compromised after working with the former dictator-to-be – is Christina Bobb who has spoken to federal investigators about a certification statement she signed in June that the FBI later determined was false. Today MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said that Bobb named two other attorneys for the former president who were involved in the matter. This story is covered in an online article for RawStory by Travis Gettys entitled ‘FBI doesn’t play’: Morning Joe says Trump lawyers finding out the hard way that rules apply to them.”

The heart of the matter is that Bobb signed a letter attesting that all of the classified materials Trump took to Mar-a-Lago had been returned to the National Archives, but court documents show the FBI later determined her signed statement was false, and she told investigators last week that she was told to sign the document by attorney Evan Corcoran.

Scarborough had scorn for these type of lawyers who think they can model themselves after Dumpf who lies as easily as he breathes and believe they can use deceit inside the courtroom where they are realizing that this strategy doesn’t work. The news host said that “The FBI doesn’t play, federal judges don’t play and I’m just, I’m really surprised at the number of lawyers who didn’t understand that. They’re getting into trouble now.”

The lawyer in hot water, Bobb, is a former host on One America News and took steps to insulate herself from potential criminal liability, according to the reporter who broke the news that she had spoken to investigators. So as Bobb struggles to avoid being criminally charged for lying to law enforcement authorities, Scarborough laughingly retorted that MAGA now stands for “make attorneys get attorneys” in Dumpf’s case rather than “make America great again.”

Yesterday Senate hopeful Tim Ryan of Ohio debated his opponent, onetime author but current Dumpf sycophant J.D. Vance and the results are in: Ryan kicked Vance’s gnarly ass. This assessment is offered in an online article for Wonkette by Evan Hurst in an article titled “So Tim Ryan Kicked JD Vance’s Ass Last Night.” Hurst says that national Democrats need to stop ignoring the Ohio Senate race since it’s “eminently winnable.”

So far, the polls are tied even in red Ohio. Ryan is able to raise money far better than Vance, even though the latter has all kinds of national money. This fact should worry Democrats who should put their money behind Ryan, metaphorically.

One of the most memorable lines from the debate came when Ryan told Vance that what Ohio needs in the Senate is an “ass-kicker,” not an “ass-kisser,” referring to Vance’s total fealty to the ex-president who famously told supporters at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, last month, “J.D. is kissing my ass, he wants my support so much.” And what an ample ass that is!

This was the kind of tone Ryan set for the entire debate. The Democratic opponent also smacked his challenger’s adherence to extremism on abortion and extremism in general. Ryan slammed Vance for “running around with Lindsey Graham, who wants a national abortion ban and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is the absolute looniest politician in America.” Ryan certainly got that right!

At the end, Ryan said he’s running to represent “the exhausted majority” in the face of extremists like Vance. He scored Vance for running around with election deniers, while Vance fought back with comments on the economy and rising prices – things that repugnicans will not do anything about if they are victorious during the midterms. Let’s hope Ohioans do the right thing and cast their vote for the more moderate candidate, Tim Ryan.

Today an article in The Atlantic written by Franklin Foer argues that Dumpf’s indictment is “inevitable” and “just a matter of when.” Foer has said that he thinks that Merrick Garland is going to indict Dumpf at some point. He lays out his argument for this inevitable option very painstakingly in the article. The country will be waiting with bated breath to see if this conclusion will play out in the Justice Department possibly right after the midterms. That’s my educated guess. Laurence Tribe, the eminent legal scholar, who is a University Professor Emeritus at Harvard University, predicts that his former student, Attorney General Merrick Garland, will indeed press charges against the Orange Menace and also predicted that only when that is done, will this country begin healing from the trauma of January 6, 2021. I would agree with this preeminent Constitutional law scholar as he offered his thoughts to Lawrence O’ Donnell on his MSNBC show “The Last Word” tonight.

It’s getting late and I would like to end with this ray of sunshine being offered by several legal experts and one magazine writer.

So far, I have not had any bad side effects arising from my Omicron booster from yesterday. I went about my business like any other day and even bought new iPhones with Elliot at Verizon today. We thought it was time to trade in our old iPhones that we’ve had for about 5 years or more. So we walked into the Verizon store here in Forest Hills after having breakfast at the Austin Street Diner. The store was quite empty at that time. We had no trouble engaging with a representative who provided us with all of the information we needed in order to make an educated decision on buying two new phones. The only complaint I had with the technician was that he lacked much enthusiasm. He gave off the attitude that he couldn’t care less if we made the purchase or not. There were few salesmen in the store other than “Tasrif,” so we were stuck with him. The store did not have the phones in stock, so we now have to wait two weeks or more to have the devices shipped to us.

Stay safe and be well.

Jocelyn is very alert here and is looking directly at the camera. It’s like she’s saying “I’m ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille!”
