Coronavirus Diary

Today is Sunday, November 27, 2022. Have you heard the latest scandal emanating from the booger in Mar-a-Lago? It happened this past Tuesday when the uncomprehending, reckless former president hosted a dinner that featured far-right racist, Nick Fuentes, at his Florida compound, along with another anti-Semite, the rap singer formerly known as Kanye West, now known as “Ye” for short or whatever the fuck’s sake! This outright concession to poor taste on the part of a former commander-in-chief is now being excoriated by members of his own party for ever occurring in the first place. However, more rank and file of the repugnican party are still remaining silent as mimes as more fucking blunders are being executed by the laughable candidate for president in 2024. He will never make it to 2024, I still strongly contend. The lying son of a bitch, in his pathetic defense, has blamed Ye for bringing Fuentes along for the hate-filled dinner and he denies that he ever knew this horrible person. If you believe Dumpf’s pathetic defense, then I have a bridge to sell you for $1.

This startling turn of events is described in an online Washington Post article by Eugene Scott and Josh Dawsey from two days ago, November 25. The title of the article is “Trump criticized for dining with far-right activist Nick Fuentes and rapper Ye.”

Advisers to the perennial loser acknowledged that the decision to host the dinner was troubling, to say the least. As you might want to forget, this occurred one week after Trumpf announced his tepid run for president in 2024. One adviser termed the event as “horrible” and another as “totally awful.” Dumpf’s own ambassador to Israel, David M. Friedman, publicly took his boss to task for consorting with the terrible duo, tweeting that the former president was “better than this.” I sincerely doubt that, do you? This is Dumpf, all warts and all! He doesn’t even know better, so why people are still expecting better from him at this late stage in his devolution from president to a traitor to this country is beyond me!

The two guests at Dumpf’s holiday table have courted negative publicity for making anti-Semitic remarks and touting white nationalist notions. Fuentes, a political commentator on YouTube, is the one with the history of spewing white nationalist tropes.

Again, in his defense, Dumpf insisted to aides since Tuesday that he did not know Fuentes, as he has insisted he never knew Stormy Daniels, E. Jean Carroll, and a bevy of other women who have accused him of rape or other sexual transgressions, “though some in his circle said they were skeptical.”

For those who are interested in Fuentes’ background, he originally grew up Catholic in the Chicago suburbs before dropping out of Boston University. Since then, he’s become popular with young conservatives critical of establishment Republicans for not taking hard-line positions on cultural issues. Fuentes attended the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville where a white nationalist killed an antiracist protester, but he has denied being a neo-Nazi or a white nationalist. If he’s not one of these, then why does he express concern about the U.S. population becoming less white, previously arguing that “dramatic and radical change” will bring “not-insignificant consequences, and not all of them good”? To me, this seems what a proponent of white nationalism would advocate, wouldn’t you agree?

Someone who was at the controversial confab has conceded that Dumpf was quickly impressed by Fuentes, even though he didn’t know who he was, and peppered him with many questions. The person in question is Karen Giorno, who is a former Dumpf aide who ran the then-candidate’s Florida campaign in 2016 before becoming a senior adviser.

Giorno confessed that her former boss “was impressed with Nick and his knowledge of Trump World, in which he knew people and figures and speeches and rallies and what surrounded the Trump culture, particularly when it came to the base,” she said.

Another person familiar with the dinner said Dumpf liked Fuentes “because he flattered him and encouraged his most pugilistic instincts.” Flattery to this malignant narcissist is like OxyContin to an opioid addict!

The dinner turned incendiary when Dumpf started “talking negatively” about Kim Kardashian, Ye’s former wife. Tensions also rose when the befuddled rapper asked Dumpf to join his 2024 ticket as vice president. This was immediately rejected by the power-hungry Mussolini wannabe.

After this blunder made by the naive rapper, the dinner wrapped up after about two hours, ending on a cordial but tense note, according to a source familiar with the event.

The criticism from both sides did not take long to pour in after it was revealed who came to dinner at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday evening.

One of those voices strongly heaping criticism on the head of the former liar-in-chief is Matt Brooks, executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, a political group that supports Jewish Republicans (do these people actually exist?) who challenged Dumpf and other political leaders to distance themselves from Fuentes and Ye. On Friday, Brooks told The Washington Post, “We strongly condemn the virulent antisemitism of Kanye West and Nick Fuentes and call on all political leaders to reject their messages of hate and refuse to meet with them.”

Dumpf’s former ambassador to Israel, David M. Friedman, was more explicit. He wrote in a tweet, “Even a social visit from an antisemite like Kanye West and human scum like Nick Fuentes is unacceptable. I urge you to throw those bums out, disavow them, and relegate them to the dustbin of history where they belong.” I wish that Dumpf himself would be relegated to that dustbin of history where he rightly belongs.

With this latest kerfuffle enveloping the former president like a dark cloud, isn’t it just sad that something so apparent like spending time with avowed anti-Semites and white nationalists would topple anyone from ever running for public office just a few years ago, but not now, in the era of Dumpf. This dinner would have resulted in the immediate disqualification of candidate Dumpf, but now, it hardly occasions a whimper from the political spectrum. It should not be so at all! It should be condemned from both sides, but from what I’ve read, it hasn’t caused much of a ripple – maybe because Dumpf is considered weak already by both sides. Who knows? Certainly, more mainstream repugnicans have not expressed indignation over the visit of both Ye and Fuentes at Dumpf’s holiday table. So all in all, this is just sad commentary on our divided politics today. And that anything goes from those running for office.

Heck, just look at the candidacy of someone like Herschel Walker in Georgia. He’s survived everything from paying for several abortions for former girlfriends to receiving blistering criticism from a biological son for abandoning him and his mother and threatening his mother with violence, and the repugnican party has not rejected him at all. I think this is just disgusting!

Now that the holiday is churning down, I must say that it’s the time to say how grateful I am for our good fortune. I just said goodbye to my son yesterday who spent the holiday weekend with his mother and grandmother. I’m recovering nicely from my double hernia surgery on November 10. We had a lovely holiday dinner with our good friend “Mark” and our amiable neighbor “Diane.” We do miss our beloved cat, Jocelyn, very much, but we feel that she is still with us in some spiritual way.

Oh, and Elliot and I began watching a new puzzling series on Netflix called 1899, which is as confusing as a Rubik’s cube. It’s the story of an immigrant ship, the Kerberos, bound for New York in the nineteenth century and what happens when the captain of the ship, Captain Larsen, decides to turn his vessel around to tow a sister ship, discovered by the Kerberos after going missing for four months, back to Europe and how the passengers are united to prevent this from happening. Elliot and I have delved into three episodes already, and we are perplexed by what’s occurring in the series created by Jantje Friese and Baron bo Odor who put out an initial German-language mystery series called Dark, which we haven’t found yet on any streaming service. We’re paying extra attention to this series first before embarking on another that we can’t find yet.

So the series has many people speaking many foreign tongues like Danish, Japanese, German, and English. The first mystery is the newly discovered ship called Prometheus that went missing for four months and when the captain and his crew board the ship, they find it practically deserted except for one little boy found hiding in a cabinet and some kind of mechanical beetle. Don’t ask me what this means! When the captain boards the Kerberos again, fantastical things happen like passengers suddenly dying. The beetle gets to scuttle under many a room and what it signifies, we certainly don’t know. The cast is an international one. There is an Asian mother and daughter, in which the daughter dresses like a Japanese geisha who ensnares the aroused men on the ship with her sultry wiles. There are two men onboard, one of whom is impersonating a priest and the other man is pretending to be his brother. Who are these passengers? We only know that they are both members of the LGBTQ community, in which the latter tries to attract an immigrant man in steerage who just lost his sister to a mysterious stranger.

Anyway, this series cannot be adequately described. I’m doing a bad job here. So I challenge anyone to watch this series and tell me what this is really about. I know we still have several episodes left, so maybe this will untangle itself by the last episode. I forget how many episodes are left, so I’ll let you know when we finish it and are able to solve the puzzle here.

Time to stay have a good week.

Stay safe and be well.
