Today is Wednesday, December 28, 2022. The ongoing saga of George Santos keeps on giving, with more lies swirling about this alien who has won a seat in Congress. Now federal prosecutors are looking into his shady finances. There is a federal investigation of Santos’s finances, which I’m hearing right now on CNN, which could lead to federal charges for the allegedly gay Republican. Shit, this guy is a wholesale fabrication of his own imagination. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that “George Santos” is not even his real name. Maybe he’s a Russian agent created by Vladimir Putin. This guy needs to be unseated pronto. CNN’s KFile uncovered more falsehoods from Santos, including claims he was forced to leave a New York City private school when his family’s real estate assets took a downturn and stating he represented Goldman Sachs at a top financial conference where he berated the company for investing in renewables. Santos never attended this private school and never represented the financial giant at any time.
Santos’s lying is on par with a former president and this is a sad commentary on the GOP, which has not said anything to rebuke him for his shameless inventions. This explosive story is reported in an online CNN article by Andrew Kaczynski and Em Steck entitled “More false claims from George Santos about his work, education and family history emerge.”
CNN also reviewed more instances of Santos providing additional false history of his family’s background. In one interview, Santos said his mother’s family’s name was “Zabrovsky” and later appeared to operate a GoFundMe campaign for a pet charity (which he falsely claimed was a 501(c)(3) nonprofit) under that alias. This is where this shitbag could face potential charges of skullduggery. I make a prediction that Santos, if he even takes office next week he will not survive his two-year run.
In another interview, Santos said his mother, whose family has lived in Brazil since the late 1800s, was a white immigrant from Belgium. So which narrative about his mother is actually true?
Now the Nassau County district attorney’s office announced that it is looking into Santos’s fabrications, though it did not specify what falsehoods it would probe.
One of the new lies applied to Santos is his claim that his parents sent him to Horace Mann preparatory school in The Bronx, but he failed to graduate because of his family’s financial difficulties. This lie appeared in an old campaign biography. Santos also made the same claim in an appearance on a YouTube show in 2020. As a rejoinder to this liar’s claims, the school stated that no one with the name of George Santos attended the school at any time. Maybe he did attend the school in an alternate universe!
As for his family’s alleged history, the 34-year-old Congressman-elect falsely claimed that his mother “fled socialism” in Europe and moved to the Land of the Free. In the same radio appearance from December 2020, Santos rambled, “My father fled socialism in Brazil. My mother fled socialism in Europe, and they came here and built a family. And today they can be proud to have a son who is a well accomplished businessman, who is now running for United States Congress. That’s something that wasn’t in the cards for my family.” What, obviously, wasn’t in the cards was that they created a son who fabricated his entire history in order to win a seat in Congress. In another interview, Santos said he “grew up with a White Caucasian mother, an immigrant from Belgium.” According to genealogical records, Santos’s mother was indeed born in Brazil, not Belgium.
The burning question with this con man is whether he will be held accountable for the flagrant lying he has engaged in during his campaign and in various interviews.
As for that federal investigation into his finances, Santos has faced many questions over his true wealth and loans totaling more than $700,000 he made to his successful 2022 campaign. Santos told Semafor today that he made his money through “capital introduction” and “deal making” for “high net worth individuals.” Everything he has said sounds fishy and what he claims here about how he made his “fortune” is extremely dubious.
Talking about the extent of Santos’s myriad fabrications, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly stated, “The numerous fabrications and inconsistencies associated with Congressman-Elect Santos are nothing short of stunning.” This is an understatement.
Donnelly said that residents in New York’s 3rd Congressional District, which covers parts of Nassau County, “must have an honest and accountable representative in Congress. No one is above the law and if a crime was committed in this county, we will prosecute it.” Let’s hope this is definitely true.
As I wrote earlier, this story on this dirtbag has many legs and is not going away. His opponent, Robert Zimmerman, is now calling for Santos to resign. Since this guy has no shame, it will never happen. He will have to be taken out of office, feet first, by federal authorities. With hands manacled!
Anyway, that’s it for me tonight. Elliot and I watched an old 1958 comedy called The High Cost of Loving, which I had taped off Turner Classic Movies (TCM). This film marked the debut of that fine actress, Gena Rowlands. She plays the wife of Jose Ferrer who learns she’s pregnant after trying to have a baby for nine years and Ferrer thinks he’s going to be canned from his corporate job. Here we are privy to the corporate world in the late 50s and to married life as well. Everyone was dressed the same way at work which consisted of white shirts and ties for the men and skirts or dresses for the women and, in this world, couples slept in separate beds. Everyone smoked at any juncture during the day. When the hard-working suburbanites returned home, they usually always had a stiff drink to calm their nerves. Ferrer directed the film as well.
Tomorrow will be my last blog before the beginning of 2023. On Friday, Elliot and I will drive to Highland, New York, where we will usher in the New Year with our friends “Ted” and “Peter.”
Stay safe and be well.
