Coronavirus Diary

Today is Saturday, January 14, 2023. Just when you thought it was safe to sit behind the Resolute Desk in the White House, you hear that more classified documents have been found in your home in Wilmington, Delaware, by your lawyers.

This depressing news story is reported in an online Associate Press article by Zeke Miller entitled “More classified documents found at Biden’s home by lawyers.”

Now a total of six top-secret documents were found during a search of Biden’s private library by White House lawyer Richard Sauber. Previously, the White House said that only a single page was found there.

In contrast, the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago produced more than 100 documents from the Orange Fiend’s Florida compound, which were found in a storage area. At least Biden’s discovered batch of classified documents were found in a library after all. That’s a better location than an unsupervised storage area, don’t you think? In the former demagogue’s case, which is being thoroughly investigated, classified material was mingled with magazines and clothes. Oooh, how yucky is that! Also in contrast to the current president, Dumpf resisted returning 11,000 administrative documents despite repeated requests from the National Archives under the Presidential Records Act and failed to fully comply with a subpoena that sought their return, according to the Justice Department. An initial set of Dumpf records were returned to the Archives last January and another set last June before the FBI obtained a search warrant for Mar-a-Lago in early August. Uncovered at Dumpf’s home were dozens of confidential, “secret,” and “top secret” documents. In Biden’s case, the commander-in-chief has indicated he was unaware of the documents’ existence until they were discovered.

So it is unfortunate that these two similar cases have emerged concerning one former president and now a sitting president. But that’s where the similarity ends, in my opinion. The earlier case is more serious and can eventually result in an indictment against the former liar-in-chief. Let’s not forget that! Republicans will try to muddy the water now since the discovery of these materials at President Biden’s Delaware home. Don’t listen to these liars. As you recall, they have embraced a fraudster by the name of George Santos in their midst.

Speaking about that con artist whose alleged name is Santos, I direct you to new reporting that implicates some well-connected Republicans who were aware of Santos’s reputation prior to him being elected, and this is really reprehensible if this is true. The article is written by Meaghan Ellis and is entitled “some ‘well-connected’ Republican figures were aware of Santos’ reputation prior to him being elected, analysis shows.”

As you know, the big story out of Washington is the election of this fraudster to represent the 3rd Congressional District out of New York, whose entire personal background story has been determined to be a tissue of lies. This article reveals a new analysis that discloses that many well-connected repugnicans were aware of Santos’s questionable behavior and actions before he got elected.

According to a report from New York Times metro desk reporter Nicholas Fandos, several individuals with knowledge of the turmoil behind the scenes of his campaign have shed light on the concerns his vendors expressed following the release of a research analysis on him.

According to the people who were familiar with those research findings, Santos was actually urged to drop out of the race before the information was supposed to have been made public. Santos, however, exhibited the same defiance then about dropping out as he has now exhibited after calls for his dismissal have rung out – from even a few of his own party members – since he took office. Santos vowed then to continue running for office even though the report contained information about fraudulent academic degrees, involvement in a firm accused of a Ponzi scheme, multiple evictions, and a suspended driver’s license. There were references to Santos being gay, even though he was married to a woman. This is not shocking to me since many queer men and women have been married to members of the opposite sex. Hey, look at me in this case. But in Santos’s situation, the people who were briefed on the findings wondered whether the marriage was carried out for immigration purposes. Santos allegedly was born in Brazil, I believe, but who knows if that’s even true.

The new report suggests that Republicans may have known about Santos and couldn’t care less if these lies were discovered after he was elected. While listening to MSNBC tonight, I heard that even the despicable Kevin McCarthy could be one of those repugnicans. This shouldn’t shock anyone at this point.

Anyway, the highlight of our day today was assembling our brushed nickel torchiere lamp after my return from having breakfast at Jackson Hole before 12. The biggest struggle with the lamp was removing it from the cocoon of styrofoam that encased the various parts. After some pulling, I finally removed the contents of the lamp and started putting it together. Elliot came in and assisted me with some of the effort. After some exertion, we got the lamp to stand and positioned it where the old lamp stood. I took three 60W bulbs and placed them in the light sockets and turned on the switch – and, voila, light. Now if I could just put together an outside barbecue grill, now that would be something. But we really wouldn’t need one since we don’t have a terrace or a house. I have to think of something else to assemble without freaking out and calling a handyman to finish the job.

The weather today was particularly cold and windy. So I basically stayed home after returning from breakfast. It even flurried a bit later in the afternoon. Elliot and I watched another episode of Welcome to Chippendales before dinner. We have only two episodes left to watch.

Have a good Sunday.

Stay safe and be well.

OK, so the lamp looks a little wobbly. It looked worse before I adjusted the poles.
