Today is Thursday, February 2, 2023, Groundhog Day, where Punxsutawney Phil predicted another six weeks of winter and not an early spring. Duh! Was this really any kind of startling news for anyone? Winter does not leave, calendar-wise, until March 20, the first day of spring, so I hazard to presume that we will be swathed in winter for much of those six weeks. No surprise here then.

For another newsworthy item recorded here, we have the circus coming to town. Not the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, no, it’s the other circus called Congress in the hands of House Repugnicans, as I call them. As anyone could have predicted when this extreme sect won a razor-thin majority in the House under the weasel Kevin McCarthy, who is a fucking fool and nonpatriot in the broadest sense, the circus has begun as these idiots take control of Congress. As I heard from some news item yesterday, this two-year Congress which we all have to tolerate until repugnicans can be removed through the ballot box, can now be dubbed the “Seinfeld Congress” after the award-wining television show from the 90s which was, theoretically, a show about nothing. This is a Congress that will positively do nothing in those two years under McCarthy’s “leadership” if he isn’t removed by then. All of us as Americans should be very disturbed by how this branch of government will be run in these two years.

So in light of the analogy of the circus coming to town, today the Republican-led House of Representatives voted to pass a resolution to remove Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar from the powerful Foreign Affairs Committee. This distressing indication of how repugnicans are now behaving once they have power in Congress is covered in an online CNN article by Claire Foran and Kristin Wilson entitled “House passes resolution to remove Ilhan Omar from Foreign Affairs Committee.”

The argument that these idiots used to oust the Muslim representative is that she has made antisemitic remarks against the state of Israel. However, in a blistering retort from Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), he blasted the real antisemites among the repugnican party, people like the former president who couldn’t condemn white supremacists on several occasions, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene with her Jewish space laser comments, and other representatives like Paul Gosar who regularly congregates with white supremacists on numerous instances.

For their part, Democrats criticized the move as an act of political revenge and asserted that the Minnesota Democrat has been held accountable for her past remarks. The party-line vote was 218 to 211. So sad!

In light of her ouster from the powerful committee, Rep. Omar fought back defiantly. And I admire her for it. In a floor speech before the vote, Omar spoke passionately, “My leadership and voice will not be diminished if I am not on this committee for one term. My voice will get louder and stronger.” She added, with vehemence, “So take your vote or not – I am here to stay, and I am here to be a voice against harms around the world and advocate for a better world.”

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries accused his repugnican toddlers of seeking “political revenge.” What else could it be? An impartial assessment of the situation? In response to this vindictive action, Jeffries said, “I will move immediately to seat Rep. Omar on the House Budget Committee where she will defend Democratic values against right-wing extremism.”

This vengeful action comes after Speaker Kevin McCarthy officially denied seats on the House Intelligence Committee to Democratic Reps. Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff, the former chairman of the panel. As you might recall, these two Congressmen were extremely active in fighting back against the former fascistic president, and so, they had to be punished by the asshole in the speaker’s seat.

The Speaker did not mince words when he earlier indicated that he would strip Schiff, Swalwell, and Omar of committee assignments because they had the audacity to remove the blonde bimbo Greene of Georgia and Paul Gosar of Arizona for actual violent rhetoric and posts. As payback, these two right-wing extremists have been rewarded with plum committee assignments. A very disturbing action, I would hazard to state. These batshit Congresspersons were justifiably condemned by both sides for speaking at a white nationalist conference.

The “Jewish laser” blonde spoke at the America First Political Action Conference in Orlando, Florida – an event founded by the far-right activist Nick Fuentes who dined with the Orange Fiend awhile back, as you recall, as an alternative to the annual Conservative Political Action Conference. For his part, Gosar, whose own siblings have disowned him, appeared at the America First Political Action Conference via a prerecorded video, HuffPost reported. Gosar also attended the same conference last year.

If you had the power, would you place these abominations on important Congressional committees after their horrible associations with white nationalist organizations that purport to bring down democracy? I dare you to say you would.

Addressing her concerns about the real impact of these unilateral moves on the part of scoundrel McCarthy, Omar said, “Kevin McCarthy’s purely partisan moves to strip us from our committee is not only a political stunt, but also a blow to the integrity of our democratic institution and threat to our national security.”

To reacquaint you about how gross Greene is, here she is in 2021 offensively comparing Capitol Hill mask-wearing rules to the Holocaust after visiting the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington. What a quaint comment to make after visiting such a somber memorial! What a stupid, offensive remark to make, really!

As for Gosar’s ethical lapses, a CNN KFile review of Gosar’s events and social media posts over the years has found that the lawmaker has long associations with white nationalists, a pro-Nazi blogger, and far-right fringe players.

So do you think there is an equivalence here with regard to stripping Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee, compared to actual offensive actions and comments made by both Gosar and Greene over the years? Hell, no!

Another offense committed by Greene that led to her being removed from all committees is when she repeatedly indicated support for executing prominent Democratic politicians in 2018 and 2019 before being elected to Congress. Then, eleven House Republicans joined with Democrats at the time in support of the move to remove her from committee posts.

In defense of her Muslim colleague, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave a heated floor speech denouncing the Republican Party for their vile hypocrisy. She denounced fellow repugnicans for their assault on “women of color” during her fiery speech. Brava, Ms. Cortez, for your courageous denunciation of this horrendous political stunt on the part of extremist repugnicans.

This then is the opening salvo of the clown show known as Congress. Boy, do we have a long way to go before we can get rid of these buffoons.

One thing we can all agree on here is that this has been one hell of a chaotic beginning to the 118th Congress. Let the tomfoolery prevail!
