Coronavirus Diary

Today is Friday, March 31, 2023. It’s a day after the unthinkable happened: a former president was indicted for the very first time by a New York grand jury for multiple charges of falsifying business records, including at least one felony charge, in the indictment handed down by the Manhattan grand jury. Details of the ongoing criminal investigation are revealed in an online article by the Associated Press in which the revelation that Dumpf will be facing at least one felony charge appears in the opening paragraph by Michael R. Sisal, Colleen Long, and Will Weissert entitled “AP sources: Trump facing at least 1 felony charge in NY.”

As you now might know, Dumpf will be formally arrested and arraigned on Tuesday in his hush money case, setting the scene for the historic, shocking moment when a former president is forced to stand before a judge to hear the criminal charges against him.

The streets outside the courthouse where the arraignment will take place were calm today compared with earlier in the week. There were no large-scale demonstrations for or against Dumpf. It is anyone’s guess if a crowd will come out next Tuesday to demonstrate against the former commander in “grief” or not.

If you think that this impending court appearance by the Orange Fiend has had any negative impact on the physically challenged ex-president, you will be sorely mistaken. The Dumpf campaign has said it has raised $4 million-plus in the first 24 hours after news of the indictment broke. So don’t have any sympathy for this former television celebrity who still plays his massive con on the fawning base that still supports him no matter what. Remember, this vile man boasted that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and still have supporters throwing themselves at his orange head.

Thus the former president is expected to fly to New York on Monday and stay at Trump Tower overnight ahead of his planned arraignment Tuesday, according to two people familiar with his plans who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss Dumpf’s travel.

What is very ironic about where Dumpf will be arraigned is that he will be charged in the same Manhattan courthouse where his company was tried and convicted of tax fraud in December and where disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s rape trial took place. Today officials from the Secret Service and the New York Police Department toured the courthouse and met about security plans.

It is because of this particular defendant that security has been ratcheted up as a result of his horrible inflammatory language used on his “Truth” Social media platform urging his dimwitted loyalists to bring “death and destruction” upon anyone perceived to be against him.

This investigation comes on the heels of other criminal probes. There is the case in Georgia in which Dumpf clearly tried to get state officials to overturn his narrow 2020 election loss there to Joe Biden. There is definite evidence in that situation, as we all heard on the news three years ago.

“At the federal level, a Justice Department-appointed counsel, Jack Smith, is also investigating Dumpf’s efforts to unravel the national election results. Additionally, the special counsel is examining how and why Trump held onto a cache of top secret government documents at his Florida club and residence, Mar-a-Lago, and whether the ex-president or his representatives tried to obstruct the probe into those documents.”

In another related area regarding the indictment of the orange adulterer, the weasel out of South Carolina, “Lady” Graham, made a fool of himself when he went onto soon-to-be bankrupt (I hope, I hope) Fox “Infotainment” to shill for his golf buddy, which came off as a fucking embarrassment. This ghastly television appearance of the Donald Dumpf loyalist is covered in a Raw Story article in which his appearance on the untruthful conservative network was met with deserved ridicule from critics everywhere. The article, written by Tom Boggioni, is entitled ‘Almost crying’ Lindsey Graham ridiculed for Trump indictment meltdown.”

So hours after a Manhattan grand jury rendered its decision against a former president, Graham (R-SC) appeared on the network to rage about the injustice of it all, cursing, and asking for money for the supposed “billionaire.”

Graham’s cringeworthy performance on Fox News was shown in a clip on Joe Scarborough’s MSNBC’s Morning Joeprogram in which the flamboyant senator lamented, “They’re trying to destroy Donald Trump because they fear him at the ballot box. To the conservatives out there, make sure you vote if you got friends, make sure they vote. If you don’t have friends, go make some friends but you need to help this man, Donald J. Trump. They’re trying to drain him dry; he’s spent more money on lawyers than most spend on campaigns. They’re trying to bleed him dry.” Then the unapologetic shill for the billionaire gave out a website and said once more, “give the president some money to fight this bullshit.” I would not hesitate to say that Graham’s plea was the bullshittest of bullshit itself. The only response to this pathetic display of pleading for money for a privileged rich man is to laugh directly at the screen and at Graham’s pitiful act. I’m glad I didn’t watch the segment, even, on Fox News.

Well, it’s getting late here. I started the blog late tonight because Elliot and I were out having dinner with our good friend “Mark” whom we haven’t seen in many weeks owing to our European and Middle East trip and to Mark’s return to his Florida apartment within the last two weeks. So we went to a northern Italian restaurant on Utopia Parkway called Riviera Ristorante. We came back around 9 p.m.

I will be away from this space tomorrow since I’m seeing “The Boss” in concert at Madison Square Garden. I bought my ticket to this concert months ago – I don’t even know exactly when. He comes on at 7:30 and, from what I have heard, he gives a full-throated performance, generally lasting three hours or more. This marks my first Bruce Springsteen concert.

So have a good weekend.

Stay safe and be well.

We thought we’d never see the headline, but here it is.

What an unflattering picture of the former wanna-be autocrat! The paper deliberately chose this picture, I’m sure of it.
