Today is Monday, April 3, 2023. As expected, the former president has arrived in New York City a day before he is expected to turn himself in to law enforcement and face more than 30 criminal charges in a Manhattan court following last week’s historic grand jury indictment.
Just as the former commander in “grief” prepares for his day in court tomorrow, a new bombshell report appeared in The Washington Post today that signaled that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has obtained more evidence suggesting possible obstruction by Dumpf that could be enough for a grand jury to charge him. Thus Dumpf could be charged once again with a criminal offense. Just as he is the only president who was twice impeached. He could even be twice or thrice charged with criminal offenses before the year is up.
In the documents case, investigators believe the ex-president went through several of the top-secret documents being stored at his Florida compound even after he received a subpoena from the Justice Department demanding the files be returned to decide which ones he wanted to keep. In an eye-opening interview with Fox “Infotainment” anchor Sean Hannity, on March 27, the blustering ex-“president” openly confessed to relocating confidential top-secret documents from the White House to his residence in Mar-a-Lago. He also stupidly confessed that it was his right to keep the documents. No, Mr. Trump, it isn’t your right. “I have the right to take stuff,” the idiot just confessed on national TV. So here the DOJ has proof, witness testimony, texts, and video footage that could imperil the former president with another criminal charge. So as the expression goes, “when it rains, it pours.”
On the heels of tomorrow’s highly publicized arraignment of a former dictator-to-be, New York City’s Mayor Eric Adams made a public message to those who would attempt to derail the proceedings on Centre Street, particularly focusing on what Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling for Dumpf’s supporters to do when Dumpf is brought into the court building. In an online article for The Hill, the outspoken hateful Representative fired back at Adams for warning her to be on her “best behavior” during protests against former president Dumpf’s arraignment tomorrow. Lauren Sforza’s article is called “Greene says NYC mayor is ‘delusional’ trying to curb her First Amendment rights.” How she responded in a tweet is just pure Marjorie: “Mayor Adams should be concerned about NY citizens and taxpayers being murdered, raped, robbed, and carjacked than an elected Member [hardly] of Congress coming to town.” She vilely went on: “Or should I be the one concerned that the mayor of NYC will weaponize his government or maybe his thugs like DA Alvin Bragg against me?” It seems as if Greene is the delusional one here, not Adams, who issued a proclamation asking Greene to be civil if she does show her ugly face in Manhattan.
Adams specifically said, “People like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is known to spread misinformation and hate speech [very true] . . . she stated she’s coming to town,” speaking at a press conference earlier today. This is when Adams exhorted Greene to be on her “best behavior.”
In light of what could be on tap tomorrow, the New York Police Department said yesterday that it is “ready to respond” to any protests during Dumpf’s court appearance, noting that its officers were already “placed on alert.”
Concerning that now infamous interview with “Leslie” Stahl on Sunday’s edition of 60 Minutes, many more commentators have come out to condemn the program’s decision to even conduct the interview with the truth-challenged Congresswoman. Another critic of the program is now U.S. Air Force Colonel Moe Davis, no lightweight personage here, who did not mince words in slamming Stahl and 60 Minutes for normalizing and mainstreaming the far-right Georgia Republican. His biting words are recorded in an online article by David Badash for AlterNet entitled ‘Seditious scumbag’: Retired Air Force colonel blasts ’60 Minutes’ for interviewing Marjorie Taylor Greene.”
For those who are unaware, Colonel Davis was a top Guantanamo Bay prosecutor who resigned after his superiors refused to support his policy that no evidence obtained via waterboarding would be used in prosecutions. In 2020, he ran against, and lost to, Madison Cawthorn in North Carolina. This is what Davis said in expressing his distaste for the network for having the interview, “Little difference in @FoxNews knowingly promoting the Big Lie and @60Minutes knowingly promoting a seditious scumbag . . . it’s all about the $$. And don’t buy any high minded journalism bullshit . . . that’s the same excuse I heard from @jaketapper when he normalized Trump in 2015.” Davis called the executives at 60 Minutes as mercenary and ratings motivated as Fox or anyone else.
So let’s see what happens tomorrow when an orange-haired defendant is arraigned on criminal charges in lower Manhattan. I would dare say that not too many Dumpf supporters will even bother to come out and protest in Manhattan since the number of supporters at Trump Tower today were actually outnumbered by journalists and photographers. And I feel that Greene will not have a warm welcome for her crazy notions that spew out of her twisted brain. I could be wrong too, but who can really tell.
As for me, I might not even write in this space tomorrow because I might attend the first meeting of a gay guys reading group in Manhattan. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 and it ends at 8, with the group going to a local bar for drinks. I don’t know if I will do this, considering that Elliot and I are driving to my friend “Harold” in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, for the first Seder of Passover on Wednesday. We will be staying until the next day and will drive home sometime Thursday morning.
Again, tomorrow will be a big day in our fair city, no two ways about it. Let’s see if we can rise above the fray and just have an ex-president arraigned without too much ado.
If I’m not back by tomorrow, let me wish everyone in advance then a Happy Passover, or Chag Sameach.
Stay safe and be well.
