Coronavirus Diary

Today is Tuesday, April 11, 2023. The wheels of justice will not brook interference in its machinations, as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has taken the unprecedented step of suing Dumpf puppet House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan for his unlawful pursuit of injustice in trying to intimidate and halt the district attorney’s pursuit of justice in the looming Dumpf criminal case. Every American should be outraged by repugnicans’ attempts to interfere with Bragg’s pursuit of his case. This eye-opening examination of more repugnican perfidy is outlined in a Chicago Sun-Times online article by Michael Sisak entitled “Manhattan D.A. sues Jim Jordan over Trump indictment inquiry.” Bragg contends in his suit that Jordan’s inquiry into his actions is a “transparent campaign to intimidate and attack” him over his indictment of former president Dumpf. Fuck, yes! This fucking action is just that; it’s as transparent as the actions undertaken by the Tennessee House legislature to censure two reps for just speaking out against the sickening gun violence that is ripping that state apart. And did that backfire on those moronic repugnicans.

In his suit, Bragg is asking a judge to invalidate subpoenas that Jordan has issued or plans to issue as part of an investigation of Bragg’s handling of the case.

U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil, who is, hmmm, a Dumpf appointee, declined today to take immediate action on the lawsuit. She has scheduled an initial hearing for April 19 in Manhattan, the day before the committee plans to question, under subpoena, a top former prosecutor who was involved in the Dumpf probe.

Bragg’s lawsuit seeks to end what it says is a “constitutionally destructive fishing expedition” that threatens the sovereignty and integrity of a state-level prosecution.

The lawsuit states that “Congress lacks any valid legislative purpose to engage in a free-ranging campaign of harassment in retaliation for the District Attorney’s investigation and prosecution of Mr. Trump under the laws of New York.”

The response from the dimwitted Jordan to this new salvo from the brave district attorney just shows how stupid he is and should be thrown off such a powerful committee, but that won’t happen in Kevin McCarthy’s speakership where far-right congresspersons dominate the landscape. Jordan tweeted today: “First, they indict a president for no crime. [Oh, has this son of a bitch seen and heard all of the evidence against the former president and, in his fucking judgment, he knows he committed no crime. Is Jordan judge and jury here?] Then they sue to block congressional oversight when we ask questions about the federal funds they say they used to do it.”

The committee is scheduled to hold a hearing in Manhattan on Monday on crime in New York City and what it alleges are Bragg’s “procrime, antivictim” policies. However, the DA’s office points to statistics showing that violent crime has dropped since Bragg took office in January 2022. This is such a distraction from what should be Bragg’s real focus here: the prosecution of a former president.

Bragg came up with a great response to the jerk from Ohio who said that if Jordan “really cared about public safety,” he would travel to some of the major cities in his home state, where crime is reportedly higher than in New York.

In his lawsuit, Bragg said he’s taking legal action “in response to an unprecedentedly brazen and unconstitutional attack by members of Congress on an ongoing New York State criminal prosecution and investigation of former President Donald J. Trump.”

This new contretemps instigated by a rogue, unconstitutional party should spur Democrats to fight back with all that they can muster, and by this lawsuit, they certainly have.

This egregious move on the part of Jordan has angered Democratic Congressman Dan Goldman who said on the Dean Obeidallah SiriusXM show that the House Judiciary Committee Chairman has “clearly crossed over” the line to “criminal obstruction.” So while Jordan thinks he can bully a Manhattan district attorney with a subpoena, he himself could face criminal charges for actually doing so, which is termed obstruction of justice. Lock him up!

Goldman went further to castigate the chairman, saying, “Jim Jordan, and perhaps Kevin McCarthy and others, are essentially colluding with Donald Trump to intervene and interfere – for Congress to intervene and interfere in an ongoing investigation. Donald Trump is essentially using the House Republicans as his taxpayer-funded legal defense team, and now they are completely outside of their jurisdiction. There is no basis for them to intervene in an ongoing investigation and prosecution at the state level. It’s not even a federal matter here. It’s a state level.” He then called what Jordan and his lackeys are doing here as “a gross abuse of power.”

What everyone should remember here about the feckless Jordan is that he himself defied a congressional subpoena to appear before the January 6 panel investigating the events of January 6, and now this bastard is issuing unlawful subpoenas to a New York prosecutor for no other reason than to help his Golden Idol for political purposes. And this piece of shit is saying that Democrats have weaponized the federal government when in fact he’s 100 percent weaponizing Congress to intervene in Dumpf’s criminal prosecution. It’s outrageous and practically criminal, as Goldman has suggested here.

That is why Democrats must take control of the House in 2024. These morons cannot remain in power any longer. The future of our country depends on it.

Stay safe and be well.
