Coronavirus Diary

Today is Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Just two days after the Fulton County grand jury voted to indict ex-president Donald Dumpf and 18 other codefendants on racketeering charges, it’s been brought to my attention via an online Radar article that the vicious supporters of the twice-impeached, thrice-indicted former president have posted the jurors’ names and addresses online, according to RadarOnline.com‘s sources. The article is entitled ‘Shameful’: Trump Supporters Expose Fulton County Grand Jury Members’ Names, Addresses Online.”

The jurors’ addresses were printed on the far right website.

The personal information began to circulate online as Dumpf allies worked overtime to find the jurors’ social media profiles to further expose their identities in defense of the beleaguered Republican.

Other unfounded posts appeared on the website in which information was posted about the jurors’ alleged public support of Democratic lawmakers like Senator Bernie Sanders, former President Barack Obama, and Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock, as well as Black Lives Matter.

A vocal critic of this disgusting practice, Daniel J. Jones, who is a founder of the nonpartisan research group Advance Democracy, Inc., branded the lack of response from political leaders as “shameful” while noting the act of attacking private citizens in the name of a political candidate as despicable as Dumpf was becoming a disturbing routine occurrence. Jones stated to NBC News, “It’s becoming all too commonplace to see everyday citizens performing necessary functions for our democracy being targeted with violent threats by Trump-supporting extremists.”

This instance wasn’t the first time Dumpf’s rotten base has launched a crusade against individuals after being riled up by the one-term president’s inflammatory remarks against those he felt had wronged him, which is practically everyone else these days.

While the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office declined comment on the disturbing incident, DA Fani Willis previously addressed the overwhelming number of racist threats her office received before Monday’s grand jury ruling.

Like other prosecutors who incurred the wrath of the foaming former president, Willis was continuously named by Dumpf in rants posted to his social platform.

After he was indicted, Dumpf told his followers on Truth Social that authorities were going to go “after those that fought to find the RIGGERS.” Whatever the hell that means!

This next citation makes the last word in Dumpf’s rant very clear since the nonpartisan group noted that since the GOP frontrunner made this post, MAGA supporters started “using the term ‘rigger’ in lieu of a racial slur.” It’s just like the infantile Dumpf to make cute with a disguised racial slur directed toward DA Fani Willis who is Black.

Just as the jurors and the district attorney in Georgia have been harassed by Dumpf and his loyal cadre of thugs, it’s been learned that the judge presiding over the January 6 case, Tanya Chutkan, is herself the target of death threats. In an online article for the Associated Press, we learn that a raving lunatic Texas woman was arrested after she threatened Chutkan with death as well as a congresswoman. The article is entitled “Texas woman accused of threatening to kill judge overseeing Trump election case and a congresswoman.”

The woman, Abigail Jo Shry, of Alvin, Texas, called the federal courthouse in Washington and left the threatening message – using a racist term for U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan – on August 5, court records show. Investigators were able to trace her call, and she later admitted to making the threatening call, according to a criminal complaint.

In the call, the deranged woman said, “You are in our sights, we want to kill you.” Prosecutors also contend Shry said, “If Trump doesn’t get elected in 2024, we are coming to kill you.” She also threatened to kill Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a Texas Democrat running for mayor of Houston, according to court documents.

Earlier this week, a judge ordered Shry jailed.

As you know, Dumpf has publicly assailed Chutkan, a former assistant public defender nominated to the bench by President Barack Obama, calling her “highly partisan” and “VERY BIASED & UNFAIR!” The defendant in four criminal cases spewed this vitriol toward the judge because of her past comments in a separate case overseeing the sentencing of one of the defendants charged in the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Last Friday, Chutkan imposed a protective order in the case, limiting what evidence handed over by prosecutors the former president and his legal team can publicly disclose. Who actually expects Dumpf to abide by these rules?

As illustrated by these two instances, it’s quite clear that Dumpf’s rhetoric has fueled crazies out there to threaten the lives of those in the criminal justice system who are pinning their sights on his sorry ass. It must be condemned from all sides – but we know so well that Republicans will fucking remain silent on the issue. It’s up to those on the other side to mount a rigorous campaign of condemnation immediately before it gets someone actually killed.

Why doesn’t Dumpf face some sort of sanction over the despicable behavior he continues to exhibit?

By the way, this date marks the 46th anniversary of “The King of Rock and Roll” – Elvis Presley’s – death. The entertainer was only 42 when he died.

Stay safe and be well.
