Today is Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Responding to her famous uncle’s fate after a New York judge ruled that he and some of his businesses committed fraud over a decade, niece Mary Trump said that Dumpf is facing “greater danger” than ever before. This response is covered in an online Newsweek article by Andrew Stanton entitled “Donald Trump Is in ‘Greater Danger’ Than Ever Before, Mary Trump Warns.”
Judge Arther Engoron ruled against Dumpf yesterday in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit alleging that he and his sons fraudulently inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to obtain benefits such as better bank loans and reduced tax bills between 2011 and 2021.
Responding to this new development in her uncle’s continuing legal woes, Mary Trump wrote in a Substack post today that she hopes the ruling will be “something of a tipping point” as he faces four criminal trials in the coming months.
In that post, titled “What’s Worse Than Worst,” Mary Trump wrote that she believes her uncle’s “weakness” and “unconscious sense that he is a loser who can only ‘win’ if he lies, cheats, and steals” make him “dangerous.” She further writes, “He believes that being a ‘winner’ is an absolutely necessary condition of his existence which partially explains why he threatens to burn it all down if he doesn’t get his way. The problem is, a significant minority of Americans, in conjunction with almost 100 percent of elected Republicans, seems determined to put him in a position to do just that.” We should all be alarmed by what Mary Trump writes here, considering that there is still a significant swath of the American public that will vote for this subhuman no matter what he does. Even if he’s tried and convicted, it appears.
Mary Trump then pondered whether Trump is “getting worse” as he faces several legal battles, which threaten to have an impact on his finances.
She muses, “Is he getting worse? I don’t know. If he seems to be, it’s because he’s in greater danger, legally and financially – even existentially – than he’s ever been before; there is more at stake (including his freedom and his wealth) than there ever has been.”
Mary Trump wrote on Wednesday that Judge Engoron’s decision may not bode well for the president as he heads to trial for the charges he’s accused of next year.
She also states, “I hope yesterday’s decision by Judge Engoron in New York (which, according to Joyce Vance, is the equivalent of New York’s corporate death penalty) will prove something of a tipping point. It’s far past time all of the evidence against Donald and his decades-long crime spree reaches critical mass.”
As the rational member of the grifting clan known as Trump, mentioned, legal experts have referred to the ruling as a “corporate death penalty,” as Engoron ordered the cancellation of business licenses for The Trump Organization and several other New York entities associated with the ex-president – greatly limiting his ability to practice business in New York, the country’s largest financial hub. It certainly beats Florida as a financial center.
On the social platform formerly known as Twitter, now called X, for no explicable reason by its far-right billionaire owner, Mary Trump tweeted a more celebratory message after learning of the judge’s ruling: “For the victims of Donald, this is finally some vindication. It’s been a long time coming, but after everything Donald has put this country through, WE HAVE PREVAILED.” She adds, “Let’s take a minute to celebrate – we’ve all earned it.”
She also posts a list of “firsts” regarding her infamous uncle”: She writes: “It’s official: Donald Trump is the”:
- 1st man in the Oval Office to be impeached twice
- 1st man in the Oval Office to incite an insurrection
- 1st to lose the popular vote TWICE
- 1st to be found liable for rape (I’m not sure he was found liable for rape here)
- 1st to be INDICTED
And now . . . 1st to be found a fraud in court.” Amen!
By the way, the second Republican “shitshow” known as the repugnican presidential debate is going on right now as I type the blog. I have no desire to watch it, as I said earlier. I’ve wasted two hours once too many times. I wouldn’t want to waste my time again tonight by watching some very unfit candidates lie during a so-called debate.
This second round features only seven candidates this time vying for the GOP nomination for president, as the absence of the frontrunner will be felt throughout tonight’s proceeding. Former president Dumpf decided to skip tonight’s event, and just like last time, is missing an opportunity to connect with voters. But why should he care? He feels he’s in the catbird seat anyway. Skipping the debate is a missed opportunity for this cowardly candidate.
Everyone knows that even though there are seven other candidates, Dumpf would dominate the debate. It would most likely center on him. With polls puzzlingly showing that he is slightly ahead of Biden, he could have used the debate stage to appeal to more of the country’s voters, especially those who are not registered Republicans. He could have used this as a way to try to expand his base which seems to consist of undereducated, white noncollege males and some women (?).
While the country continues to be distracted by the Dumpf debacle, the other buffoon known as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is showing his extreme ineffectiveness as a leader as the nation hurdles toward a government shutdown primarily because of his intransigence over negotiating with moderate Republicans (hmmm, do they even exist in the cult of Trump?) and Democrats to cobble together a bill to prevent the inevitable. Not only is this devil refusing to work with all members of Congress to prevent a shutdown, he is ridiculously accusing the Democrats for letting it happen.
This lack of leadership on the part of this jackass is covered in an online Alter Net article by David Badash entitled “McCarthy blocks bipartisan bill approved by 77 senators to avoid shutdown as he tries to pin blame on Dems.”
McCarthy is actually saying that he will not allow the House to take up a compromise bill supported by a large and bipartisan majority of senators that would allow the federal government to continue operating past the midnight Saturday deadline.
The reason that this despicable man won’t take up the bill is that it funds the war in Ukraine and doesn’t fix the border, as he informed Senate Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
As McCarthy is pulling the plug on a compromise bill to keep the federal government operating, what is totally outrageous is that House Republicans and McCarthy himself are attempting to blame the likely shutdown on Democrats, even though that is blatantly false. It is House Democrats who are frantically trying to avert a shutdown, but it is McCarthy’s extreme members (think: MAGAts) who have been pushing to shut down the federal government. Another reason why this toad is not putting together a compromise resolution to keep the federal government open is that he would likely lose his Speakership as a result. So he’s only interested in self-preservation you can say.
If the shutdown occurs as predicted, the Associated Press reported today that “A shutdown would furlough millions of federal employees, leave the military without pay, disrupt air travel, and cut off vital safety net services, and it would be politically punishing to lawmakers whose job it is to fund government.”
If this disaster does occur because of the collapse of negotiations, it is only Speaker McCarthy who bears the full brunt of causing the shutdown. Political pundit and journalist Bill Kristol, a Republican who became a Democrat in 2020, tells the truth when he says: “One man, Kevin McCarthy, is responsible for the looming government shutdown, because he won’t bring to the House floor a funding bill supported by a majority of senators from both parties, the administration, and a majority of House members. It’s the Speaker’s shutdown.”
So we must not forget who to really blame for this disaster if it happens after Saturday, Kevin “Kiss the Ring” McCarthy.
That’s it for me.
Stay safe and be well.
