Today is Monday, November 6, 2023. Today a con man/pathological liar/crybaby took the stand in a civil fraud case being presided by Judge Arthur Engoron who had one point, exasperatedly, told the Orange Blob sitting in his courtroom, “This is not a political rally,” pointing to Chump, then telling his lawyer to “control your client.” referencing the kind of silly antics Chump played throughout his worthless testimony. Chump still hasn’t gotten the message that he’s in a court of law, not a rally venue where he’s the master showman. He provided no exculpable answers to the questions posed him concerning overvaluing his assets in a persistent fashion over decades. Chump thought he was playing to his misguided supporters who are probably not even following the case in the least. Here the Orange Hemorrhoid persisted in attacking the attorney general who brought the case against him and the judge overseeing the trial itself. But he couldn’t answer the questions regarding the crux of the case in a non-self-incriminating manner. The judge who has clashed with the infamous defendant all throughout the trial tried to stop the former president’s political barbs and speechifying, telling his lawyer Chris Kise to “control your client” and threatening to have Chump removed as a witness. Eventually, the judge stopped trying to control Chump – how could anyone stop this overwhiny, clamorous child at this point in his long, miserable life? – and then mostly disregarded his ranting.
Anyway, who needs to know more about what happened in the courtroom today? It’s getting late here since Elliot and I were out having dinner with my newly found cousins on East 83rd Street at the southern Italian restaurant, 83 1/2.
I was absent from this page yesterday because Elliot and I had tickets to the New York Comedy Festival to see Robyn Schall at Town Hall. Frankly speaking, I didn’t even know who Ms. Schall was. I bought these tickets over the summer after we had lunch with former neighbors of Elliot’s in which one of the ladies had mentioned that Schall was performing in November, which seemed so far ahead in the future then. It seems that Schall was known by someone living in Woodmere, which was the connection. I, frankly, had never heard of her, so I was surprised to see an almost full house last night waiting with bated breath until it was time for her to take the stage. After a warm-up show consisting of about 20 minutes or so, which featured a very loud-mouthed middle-aged comedian whose name escapes me, Schall walked confidently onstage.
This pint-sized, chubby comedian easily proved how she is so loved by her adoring fans by putting on an amazingly funny show, mostly relying on the assistance of audience members to get her droll message across. Eschewing topical issues, Schall concentrated on her own development – from a disabled six-year-old suffering from Perthes disease (in her routine, she said it wasn’t “herpes”) that forced her to wear leg braces “Forrest Gump-style,” as she humorously comments, to an Instagram star whose video in 2020 (this was the video that predated the terrible pandemic in which she listed her goals for 2020 that were cruelly dashed by the effects of the virus) went viral, garnering more than a million views, resulting in a Zoom interview with Oprah Winfrey. What I enjoyed about her show is that she showed the evidence about the craziness that she has experienced, which included her showing the video that made her an Instagram sensation and the interview that was conducted among her, Winfrey, and Gayle King. When is Oprah ever going to come out? I wonder. Thus Elliot and I were exposed to the zany nuttiness of this fresh, young comic.
The real reason I didn’t write the blog is that when we came home, I clicked on an attachment that my son “Joshua” sent me late that night. When I clicked on what looked like a video, I was flabbergasted to find that my son has a new YouTube channel in which he discusses his love of cruising as well as sharing his knowledge of the cruise line industry with subscribers. In this initial video, he is interviewed by a young woman named “Sally” concerning his attraction to cruising and what his other hobbies are. Then he takes over to comment on his 54 cruises and which ones he found most memorable. I then tried to share this first video with two of my friends so that he can get more subscribers. I wish him great success with this new venture. The idea might have originated after the time he was cast in a video some months ago in which his hotel and him were the principal subjects in a local vlogger’s piece on his property in North Port, Florida. It probably influenced Joshua to try and do something like this himself. More about this at some other time.
Oops, it’s really getting late here.
Stay safe and be well.
