Today is Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Finally, an adult in the room, Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA), slammed House repugnicans for “wasting away their majority” by “fighting amongst themselves” like “babies” in a speech on the House floor. McGovern was addressing the silly antics that I referred to in two skirmishes yesterday initiated by repugnicans only. I say it’s about time that someone like McGovern step up and scold these twits who call themselves “representatives of the people.”

The speech by McGovern was covered in an online article for Mediate by Philip Nieto entitled “Democrat Scolds GOP Over Internal Turmoil in Fiery Floor Speech: We Have Republicans ‘Literally Assaulting Each Other!'”

In the fiery speech, McGovern also criticized GOP lawmakers for their recent internal strife, including “literally assaulting each other in the hallways” and getting supporters to threaten “each other’s families with violence.”

During his Wednesday speech on the House floor, McGovern continued to not hold back on his fellow repugnicans, noting the party no longer operates under a “coherent political ideology” while Democrats are on “team normal.”

They just want to scream and yell about how this place is broken when they’re the ones who broke it,” McGovern continued. “But the American people see through it. They know this Republican majority is a disaster, a national embarrassment. They have normalized dysfunction.”

Not mincing words, McGovern said, “We have Republican members of Congress literally assaulting each other in the hallways, threatening to punch people in committee hearings, getting into fights on the House floor and having their supporters threaten each other’s families with violence.” The Democrat added, “They have wasted away their majority flighting amongst themselves and acting like babies, focusing on retaliation and revenge, pursuing ridiculous impeachment inquiry sideshows.”

Toward the end of his scolding speech, McGovern reminded the American public that Democrats are “team normal” while “Republicans are team totally off the deep end nuts.” He concluded with this observation, “Democrats ran this place like professionals and Republicans are running it into the ground.” Amen, Rep. McGovern; I believe most Americans will agree with your assessment of the other representatives on the aisle who are currently behaving like toddlers, fighting among themselves as a distraction from true legislating. No one approves of this kind of behavior and Republicans better adult up before they are rejected at the ballot box very soon.

Today “team normal” was on full display as President Joe Biden met his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping, at a summit outside San Francisco.

During a press conference at the conclusion of the summit, Biden held a press conference to highlight what was discussed during the conference. Two things that were discussed were agreeing to restore high-level military communication and taking steps to curb fentanyl production on our shores.

At the press conference, Biden said, “We’re back to direct, open, clear, direct communications.” He cited the obvious here when he said, “Vital miscalculations on either side can cause real, real trouble with a country like China or any other major country.”

The President said the talks with Xi were “some of the most constructive and productive discussions we’ve had.” Biden added, “We haven’t always agreed,” but said his talks with Xi are always “straightforward.”

During the press conference, Biden said the agreement to reduce precursor chemicals for fentanyl would “save lives” and said he appreciated Xi’s commitment on the issue.

This meeting with China can only be viewed as a positive first step in our contentious relationship with the country.
