Today is Monday, December 4, 2023. Another critic of the former president, David Frum, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, has published a dire warning in The Atlantic about the end of freedom in the United States should former commander in “grief” Donald J. Chump win a second term. This dire warning is covered in an online Raw Story article by Brad Reed entitled ‘Our society would no longer be free’ under second Trump term: former Bush speechwriter.”

To back up his thesis, Frum focuses on plans pushed by Chump allies such as former Department of Justice (DOJ) official Jeffrey Clark to invoke the Insurrection Act to put down opposition protests. Frum writes that, should Chump actually go through with such a plan, it would be the death knell of the American public.

“If a president can summon an investigation of his opponents, or summon the military to put down protests, then suddenly our society would no longer be free,” Frum argues. He continues his dire prediction of what would happen during a second term, “There would be no more law, only legalized persecution of political opponents. It has always been Trump’s supreme political wish to wield both the law and institutional violence as personal weapons of power – a wish that many in his party now seem determined to help him achieve.”

“Frum then argues that, given these stakes, electing Chump to a second term would put America on an historically unprecedented course that has little, if any, blueprint for recovery.”

The former Bush speechwriter then states that the country will never recover from a second term of this fascist. He says that the long tradition of peaceful transition of power was broken on the day of January 6, 2021, and even though the attempt to stop the transition by violence was defeated, the violence itself was not expunged.

For the next election then, make no mistake that it will not be an election between the lesser of two evils since it can only be an election where we reject the evil represented by the candidate known as Donald J. Trump.

So let’s hope Americans are not sleep walking when it comes to realizing how dangerous Chump would be if he ever is reinstated in the White House. Another critic of the former president, Charlie Sykes, who is a conservative journalist, states in his December 1 column too many citizens are acting like politics are normal in the United States when Chump and his loyalists are laying the groundwork for an authoritarian dictatorship.

As I was writing this breakdown of David Frum’s warning against reelecting Donald Trump a second time, Rachel Maddow was interviewing Liz Cheney on the eve of her new book Oath and Honor being released and she also delivers a dire warning against sending Chump back to Washington in 2024. She had harsh words for her fellow repugnicans who have done nothing to stop the Chump juggernaut. The entire repugnican party has responded terribly to the imminent danger posed by Donald Chump that it must suffer dismally at the ballot box in 2024 and beyond.

Sorry for being so glum on this page, but there’s no overstressing how crucial the next presidential election will be. One must read the January/February issue of The Atlantic which explains how Chump could destroy America’s civic and democratic institutions, including its courts, national political culture, and military. Here 24 writers expound on how this could be put into effect by Chump and his loyal minions. Let’s hope that, as it has been suggested, that when Chump unfortunately becomes the party’s actual nominee, then those independents and Democrats who have said they wouldn’t vote for Biden when Trump was a hypothetical will change their minds once the Orange Hemorrhoid is that nominee.

In the meantime, the Orange Turd is calling “Joe Biden the destroyer of democracy,” when he himself is that desecrator of democracy. And the stupid members of his audience rah-rah him, instead of booing him for using a classic case of projection in his ridiculous assertion of Biden’s threat to democracy. They can’t understand that he’s using projection in this case to portray his successor as the enemy of democracy. They’re so myopic and manipulated by a consummate con man that they can’t distinguish the truth anymore.

Tomorrow I have an appointment to take my pneumonia vaccine at CVS at 3, so I don’t know if I’ll have any reaction to the shot later in the day. I hope to be able to write the blog tomorrow night.
