Today is Wednesday, January 17, 2024. For those of us who are fearful of a Dump win in 2024 even if he’s supremely unqualified to take back the White House, let alone a doghouse, a promising article appears online in the Washington Examiner by Zachary Faria entitled “Biden’s unpopularity isn’t enough for the GOP to win.”
The opening paragraph of the article says it all: ”President Joe Biden is wildly unpopular, but that fact alone is not going to gift Republicans election wins in 2024.” The warning signs of this electoral loss are there, Faria writes.
One of those warning signs is the recent Florida state House District 35 election win for Democrats. In 2020, Biden won that district over then-President Donald Chump by 5 points. In 2022, the GOP candidate won it by 11 points. In a return to 2020 numbers, Democrat Tom Keen won the special election on Tuesday by just over 2 points.
Thus if we think that repugnicans can just sweep to victory based on the current president’s unpopularity, this is not the case. Republicans thought exactly the same thing during the 2022 election cycle, leading to effusive talk of a “red wave” that never materialized nationally. It was only one state, Florida under autocrat Ron DeSatan, where the red wave did come to pass, but now we are seeing repugnican enthusiasm in this red state waning.
There are no mitigating factors in this loss in Florida. It was an open seat where the GOP candidate spent twice as much as the Democrat. The horrible GOP candidate was about as much as a cookie-cutter conservative candidate as you can find these days, but she was still defeated by the Democrat. The seat has now reverted to a similar partisan lean as in 2020 when repugnicans lost the White House and the Senate.
Conservatives have been warning about this for the last few years. ”Trump is still electorally toxic, no matter how unpopular Biden is.” So it will be to the detriment of these ugly repugnicans if they believe they can skate by on Biden’s poor numbers which can actually go up by November (I hope!), then a 2020 repeat is far more likely than the 2022 red wave that Florida Republicans enjoyed. I love this conclusion, “And if that happens, with Trump at the top of the ticket, the GOP will be set back years as Democrats gain power across the country.” This should only come to pass in November!
If you ask me, these disgusting repugnicans and true enemies of American democracy will simply lose in November because of one thing, “It’s abortion, stupid!” The stupid frontrunner, Donald J. Chump, has now come out claiming that he succeeded in overturning a woman’s right to reproductive rights and it is these women and their supporters that will deliver a death blow to any repugnican candidate running for president, be it Dump or Nikki Haley, or even that asshole Ron DeSatan. There is no clearer distinction between Joe Biden and any other repugnican vying for the job than this position separating them on abortion and this will result in their electoral defeat, no matter what pundits are saying about Biden’s many weaknesses.
And for those who are interested in how the second day of Dump’s defamation trial involving journalist E. Jean Carroll went, all you need to know is that the Orange Blob distinguished himself so brilliantly that the judge in the case threatened to remove the former “whiner in chief” for making comments that could be overheard by the jury while his accuser was testifying. This is how a former president behaves while in a courtroom. A two- year-old behaves better.
The former president just demonstrated how infantile he is and how he loves being the victim. Aren’t we all disgusted by this guy’s relentless infantile, uncouth behavior? Let’s give him a Bronx cheer this coming November and send him back to Mar-a-Lago if it’s still there by then.
Today was an extremely cold day here in New York, but that didn’t stop me from driving to Royal Collectibles, on Metropolitan Avenue, to pick up two new comic books, World’s Finest featuring both Batman and Superman and a new Superman comic. I also had breakfast next door at Buen Sabor Restaurant & Coffee Shop which is a Dominican eatery. This is where I read my new books. I then drove home to see how our little Atticus was doing. Later craving some high-cholesterol ethnic food, Elliot and I drove to Ben’s Deli in Bayside. It was only about 23 degrees then when we drove to the deli in the dark.
Tomorrow a heat wave is forecasted: temps in the low 30s.
Stay safe and be well.
