Coronavirus Diary

Today is Saturday, January 20, 2024.      Finally, we have a repugnican candidate for president like Nikki Haley questioning the frontrunner’s mental fitness for the job.   In a significant online article for CNN by Ebony Davis entitled “Haley questions Trump’s mental fitness after he confuses her with Nancy Pelosi,” we get an examination of Dump’s mental acuity that should disqualify him immediately for president.   We need more people shouting this from the rafters, and maybe, they will start doing so as the months melt away into November.

Thus when the architect of the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol was talking about it at a campaign rally in New Hampshire, the fumbling Orange Orangutan misspoke about Haley’s role in the siege that he himself spurred on.

Haley immediately seized on Chump’s verbal gaffes, saying, “Last night, Trump is at a rally and he’s going on and on mentioning me several times as to why I didn’t take security during the Capitol riots.  Why I didn’t handle January 6 better.   I wasn’t even in DC on January 6.   I wasn’t in office then.”   The former South Carolina governor added, “They’re saying he got confused. That he was talking about something else.  That he was talking about Nancy Pelosi. He mentioned me multiple times in that scenario.”

God, almighty, if this were Joe Biden making these misstatements, everyone would be mentioning it in the media and why isn’t the media doing it when it now involves the Orange Turd?

Thank God there is this article then.   Haley told a crowd of voters in Keene, New Hampshire: ”The concern I have is – I’m not saying anything derogatory, but when you’re dealing with the pressures of a presidency, we can’t have someone else that we question whether they’re mentally fit to do it.”

The transcript of Dump’s speech is indeed mystifying and confusing and shows someone who is dealing with cognitive decline:  Here is what this buffoon actually said:   “By the way, they never report the crowd on January 6.   You know, Nikki Haley, Nikki Haley, Nikki Haley [he obviously meant “Nancy Pelosi” here] . . . did you know they destroyed all of the information, all of the evidence, everything, deleted and destroyed all of it? [what the fuck is he talking about here?] All of it, because of lots of things, like Nikki Haley is in charge of security, we offered her 10,000 people, soldiers, national guards, whatever they want.  They turned it down.”    Can anyone fathom what this orange toad is talking about here?

Beyond confusing Haley with Pelosi, Chump’s contention that the speaker of the House is responsible for U.S. Capitol security is not accurate, as CNN previously fact-checked.

In a Fox “News” interview, Haley said, “We need people at the top of their game.”  We don’t need someone like Nikki Haley either who thinks slavery wasn’t the primary reason we had the Civil War.    This is a person who would whitewash history, along with failed repugnican candidate, Ron DeSatan, who will be dropping out of the race soon, I predict.

In the days before Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary, Haley, 52, has sought to highlight her age gap with Dump, 77, and President Joe Biden, 81.   She has also been adamant about calling for term limits and mental competency tests for any politician over the age of 75.

For weeks, Dump’s campaign has treated Haley as a serious threat in New Hampshire, since DeSatan is foundering and could be dropping out very soon – and the mumbling candidate made that clear with a series of attack ads on social media and at a rally in the state attacking Haley’s ethnicity.   Oh, how low this bastard will go for votes!

I seriously wonder if any of Dump’s supporters are recognizing this in their Dear Leader?   Are they that stupid or on something that prevents them from recognizing this in their Supreme Leader?     I actually heard the reel from that rally where he mixed up Pelosi’s name with Haley’s.    It’s fucking sad that this guy is even in the race!

So we have the New Hampshire primary this coming Tuesday and let’s see how Dump does this time.     I hope he will go down like a malfunctioning rocket.

In the meantime, the publisher of Manchester, New Hampshire’s Union Leader newspaper, Joe McQuaid, writes this about the Donald:  “He has no business being president of the United States.”     This frank assessment of the repugnican frontrunner is offered in an online AlterNet article by Carl Gibson entitled “‘He has no business being president’:    NH conservative publisher says Trump is ‘dangerous.'”

McQuaid is seen as one of the most influential conservatives in the Granite State.  And it’s a near certainty that former president Donald Chump will not win its coveted endorsement.

In a recent interview with Politico, McQuaid weighed in on the upcoming New Hampshire presidential primary next Tuesday.    He didn’t mince words when asked about his thoughts on the insurrectionist’s bid for the 2024 repugnican nomination, and his death grip on the party as a whole.

After saying that Chump has no business being president, McQuaid added, “He’s a dangerous man and he has a lot of sycophants, and he has a party which looks at the world today in the political landscape and has determined that they must say nice things about him or they’re not going to be elected.”

The Union Leader refrained from endorsing the Donald in 2016, and instead threw is weight [no pun intended] behind then-New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who ultimately finished in 6th place.   Little Donald won the Granite State handily, garnering more than twice as many votes as second-place finisher Governor John Kasich (R-OH).

Of course, after being told he did not win the Union Leader’s official endorsement, the whiny baby savaged both McQuaid and the publication, saying the publisher was “a real lowlife” and describing the paper as “a piece of garbage.”   Just remember he was vainly attempting to get their endorsement before trashing it.

While the endorsement has not yet been announced, it’s likely that McQuaid’s paper will officially back Nikki Haley, who has also won the support of New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu.   McQuaid told Politico that the former South Carolina governor was the best candidate for Republicans to win in November, saying, “Haley would clean the floor with [President Joe] Biden.” I seriously doubt that, but he’s entitled to his opinion.    At least he tapped Little Donnie correctly.

Tomorrow, January 21, marks Elliot’s granddaughter’s “Sadie”s ninth birthday and we will be having a Zoom session with her and her mother between the hours of 12 and 1, I believe.    We look forward to speaking with her on her birthday and providing her glimpses of our cat, Atticus.     If he stays stationary for one moment!

Have a good Sunday.  It’s supposed to be balmy, actually, at 31 degrees.  The weather for the rest of the week is actually supposed to get warmer, like in the 40s, which is definitely more balmy, given the frigid temperatures we’ve had recently.

Stay safe and be well.

Here is Atticus in a Cracker Jack can.  I had to tip it over to get him out of it.

I baked another round of banana nut bread this afternoon since we’re having my Astoria friend,”Seth,” over for dinner along with his husband.
