Today is Sunday, February 11, 2024, Super Bowl Sunday, or as I refer to the game, as the “Stupid” Bowl. I have to mention that Elliot and I surprisingly watched part of the game with our good friend/neighbor “Diane” who was with us enjoying a takeout Chinese dinner. At some point, I suggested watching a little of the game and I believe we watched at least ninety minutes, including the much-heralded half-time show featuring Usher and other singers who we couldn’t even identify. I’m quite proud of myself for even leaving the television on that long on Stupid Bowl Sunday. As I recall, we had attended a Super Bowl party last year at my Astoria friend’s house and I think we watched more of the game tonight with Diane than watched it with a group of primarily gay guys and gals in an apartment in Astoria. But tonight’s Super Bowl featured pop superstar Taylor Swift who is hated by Republicans and those on the fringe right because of her enormous power with her millions of fans. I was quite happy that I could identify her when the cameras zeroed in on her and we were all obsessed with seeing her new boyfriend Travis Kelce who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Oh, I got the names of those who accompanied Usher during the half-time show. One was Alicia Keys who played on a fabulous red piano that looked like a shoe. Other people who joined Usher were H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon, and Ludacris. Don’t ask me who any one of them was. I did know Keys and I’ve heard of Ludacris, but if you asked me to pick them out of a lineup, I couldn’t. Actually, it was Diane who identified Alicia Keys.
So, as you know by now, the Kansas City Chiefs came from behind to defeat the San Francisco 49ers, 25-22, in a thrilling overtime victory. I was reading for most of the game an Action Comics that I bought in Astoria today with my friend “Seth,” who I met earlier for breakfast at the Jackson Hole Diner. I had accompanied him to Steinway Street where he had to exchange some clothing that was too big on him for more appropriately fitted apparel. From there, we walked to Midtown Comics, located only about 5 minutes away from Steinway Street where Seth’s clothing store was situated. Elliot preferred to see a French film with Diane at the Kew Gardens Cinema today at 1, a film called Driving Madeleine. Both Elliot and Diane recommended the film very highly.
Diane left after 9:15 or so. I listened to my Sunday podcast called The Banter and then started the blog after I stacked the dishwasher.
Boy, will Swift and her new boyfriend party hard tonight since Kelce plays for the winning team. And fuck those on the right who have said the game is rigged because of Kelce being on the Kansas City Chiefs. I actually heard this nonsense from a proprietor of a local bakery tonight when I went down to pick up our Chinese food and went into the bakery for some sweet delights. I asked the woman behind the counter if she was going to watch the game, and she replied, “No, why should I? It’s rigged.” I’m wondering where she heard this bullshit.
Honestly, it’s hard to type here again because I have a furry friend sleeping thisclose to the keyboard. I’ve had to lift his paws earlier since they were directly on some keys. Can’t complain since he feels this comfortable being with me here. He can be in any other place in the apartment, but he prefers to stay here. That must say something about his trust in me.
Anyway, have a good week. We’re supposed to be getting some wintry mix of weather either Monday night or Tuesday.
Stay safe and be well.

Ooh, what big eyes you have there! Here’s Atticus staring at a stuffed alligator in his new paper doll house that we found downstairs in the basement of our building. He seems to like it.
