Today is Monday, March 18, 2024. Great news today for those who despise the presumptive candidate for president this year, as I do, and that is that Donald Duck announced he can’t find an insurance company to underwrite his bond to cover the gargantuan judgment against him in the New York attorney general’s civil fraud case, his none-too-nimble lawyers told a New York appeals court. Awwww, should we feel sorry for this Orange Turd now? This developing story appears online at CNN by Kara Scannell and Jeremy Herb entitled “Trump is unable to make $464 million bond in civil fraud case, his lawyers tell court.”
The Orange Hemorrhoid’s lawyers said he has approached 30 underwriters to back the bond, which is due by the end of the month.
The attorneys working overtime for “Mr. Bloodbath,” which is what I’ll call him now – in addition to other names I’ve used here before – after his sickening comments in Ohio the other day, said, “The amount of the judgment, with interest, exceeds $64 million, and very few bonding companies will consider a bond of anything approaching that magnitude.”
One insurance broker, Gary Giulietti, who testified for Trump during the civil fraud trial, signed an affidavit stating that securing a bond in the full amount “is a practical impossibility.”
Potential underwriters are seeking cash to back the bond, not properties, according to Dump’s lawyers.
And here we go again! Trump’s lawyers have asked – as damn expected – the appeals court to DELAY posting the bond until his appeal of the case is over, and who knows when that might happen.
Last month, Mr. Bloodbath was ordered to pay $355 million in disgorgement, or “ill-gotten gains,” by New York judge Arthur Engoron in a civil fraud case brought by Attorney General Letitia James.
The amount Mr. Bloodbath owed surpassed $450 million with interest included.
As I mentioned above, Drumpf is appealing the ruling, but in order to stop the state from enforcing the judgment, Mr. Bloodbath has to post a bond to be held in an account pending the appellate process, which could take years to litigate. Fortunately, Drumpf could be dead by then!
Earlier this month, Drumpf posted a $91.6 million bond as part of his appeal in the E. Jean Carroll defamation case.
The insurance broker quoted above, Gary Giulietti, said none of the biggest underwriters will accept real estate as part of the bond – he said they are only comfortable taking cash or stock.
As you would expect in this case, a Drumpf campaign spokesperson took umbrage over the size of the fraud judgment, not accepting the fact that his boss engaged in many years of tax fraud, and is now paying the piper. You don’t need to know what that spokesperson said, just know that he directed his anger at the real president, Joe Biden, for creating these “hoaxes” against Donald Duck and “we will Make America Great Again.” Just think this: MAGA can now stand for “Make this Asshole Go Away.” Some creative never-Trumper on one of my Facebook chat groups came up with another use of this ridiculous acronym being exploited by the MAGAts supporting Mr. Bloodbath’s return to power.
Now it’s up to the appeals court to make a definitive judgment against this bastard!
More bad news for the malignant narcissist: it was announced today that former attorney Michael Cohen and adult film star Stormy Daniels will be allowed to testify at the former president’s New York criminal trial, a judge just ruled.
Another CNN online article on this subject by the same writers of the first article, Kara Scannell and Jeremy Herb, is cited here and it’s entitled “Judge denies Trump’s bid to block Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels from testifying at New York criminal trial.”
So here is the second bad piece of news for Mr. Bloodbath: Judge Juan Merchan denied a motion from Drumpf’s lawyers to prevent Cohen and Daniels – two key witnesses in the Manhattan district attorney’s case – from testifying at Dump’s hush money trial, which could begin next month. It was supposed to have started at the end of this month, but was pushed to next month because of new evidence that was turned over from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
Even more unsettling for the Orange defendant is that the judge also ruled that he would allow testimony about Mr. Bloodbath’s infamous “Access Hollywood” tape – but that playing the tape itself to jurors was “not necessary.”
The DA’s office charged Drumpf with falsifying business records, accusing him of concealing the reimbursement of hush money payments Cohen made to Daniels before the 2016 election to keep her from going public about an alleged affair with Drumpf.
Mr. Bloodbath’s attorneys sought to block Cohen’s testimony, arguing that Cohen previously committed perjury and alleging that he lied in his testimony at Drumpf’s New York civil fraud trial last year.
But Merchan wrote in his decision that Cohen had not been charged with perjury for his more recent testimony. Hell, Cohen is more believable and probably more truthful any time over the Orange Turd, I would dare say. Barring him from testifying would have been a very bad decision on this judge’s part since Cohen is a key witness. The same applies to Stormy Daniels who is at the center of this first trial and barring her from testifying would also have been detrimental to the prosecution. A very good decision, Judge Merchan!
Talk of the devil! Michael Cohen is now talking to CNN host Kasie Hunt about the upcoming hush money trial and just offered this caveat about his former boss. It concerns where Drumpf would be receiving funds to pay all of his expensive legal fees and various other legal entitlements. He said that all Americans should be concerned if he borrows money from countries like Saudi Arabia or other adversaries to the United States. This would be very concerning, to say the least, and it would be another reason why this monumentally broken man should never return to the White House!
Today was a more laid-back day, compared to yesterday. Atticus found another ledge to jump to; this time, he jumped from one side of the kitchen counter to the other where he began rooting through pairs of sunglasses in an old Votivo candle box. I had to pull him off the counter before he could throw something down on the floor. Elliot and I ate breakfast out this morning and then I just tried the new NYSC site in Rego Park. It was also much chillier than yesterday. I had to take off my lighter zippered jacket for my winter coat later in the day.
Tomorrow is going to be another cool day: the high is just going to be in the high 40s. Brrrr! Don’t put away those winter clothes just yet.
Stay safe and be well.

Here is Atticus sleeping on our computer desk chair with one paw over his face. Isn’t he just the cutest here? He looks bigger here, doesn’t he?
