Today is Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Today the race is on in the Ohio Senate primary where a putrid Dump-backed candidate, Bernie Moreno, will take on incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown in a critical race for control of the chamber this November. So all eyes are on the Buckeye State then as this crucial contest plays out after polls closed. Ohio’s GOP primary is being touted as a test of the former disgraced ex-president’s clout in a contested Senate race. An online CNN article on the situation in Ohio is written by Simone Pathe, Jeff Zeleney, and Aaron Pellish entitled “Why Ohio’s primary is a test for Trump.”
The Ohio senate primary will help determine a key question this fall: What is the fate of Senator Sherrod Brown and the Democratic majority?
One of three “Reputin” rivals locked in the bitter primary, state Senator Matt Dolan, asked supporters Monday night in Columbus, “Are we ready to win and retire Sherrod Brown from Ohio politics?” I do hope the answer to this question is, “Not now or ever!”
As of now, the worst candidate, Bernie Moreno, is receiving 41.4 percent of the votes cast compared to Matt Dolan who has 36.4 percent of the votes cast. I believe Democrats are silently hoping that Moreno pulls out ahead so that Brown could more easily defeat him in the fall. I’m not so sure if this is a great strategy, but who knows.
As for that classified documents case not going on in Washington being presided over by prejudiced judge Eileen Cannon, there is now speculation that this inexperienced Drumpf hack could be removed, according to an online RawStory article by David Edwards entitled “Judge Cannon could be ‘removed from the case altogether” after latest stunt: report.”
According to a report, U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon could be taken off the crucial Drumpf classified documents case. This is because she shocked experts by proposing yesterday jury instructions that would suggest a president had SOLE [my caps] authority to declare documents a personal record, essentially dismissing the case against the Orange Hemorrhoid.
Daily Beast columnist Ray Brescia wrote Tuesday that Cannon is on track to lose jurisdiction of the case. He writes, “[O]ver the last six months, a slow-moving car-crash of a case has been unfolding, with a judge who seems committed to protecting the former president at every turn of the road. At worst, she is doing all she can to protect the former president from facing the classified documents case before the election, if at all.”
Legal experts have suggested special counsel Jack Smith may be forced to appeal to a higher court, which would be the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, the same court that previously overturned Cannon in prejudicial decisions favoring the Orange Turd. Smith can now ask the court to not just overturn those orders, but also reassign the case to a different judge.
Brescia further writes, “Judge Cannon’s willingness to show favor for the former president may ultimately backfire and get her kicked off the case. And the case could end up being assigned to a new judge – who may not be as willing to bend over backward in support of dubious claims and defenses that support Trump’s ultimate goal of delaying the case until at least past the 2024 election, if at all.”
Let’s hope this journalist’s prediction does indeed come true and Cannon is removed. Who knows how long of a delay would result from that scenario? But at least this very partial judge will have been kicked off the case, which would be a good thing.
By the way, that candidate backed by Herr Drumpf, Moreno, did win. Too bad, in my uneducated opinion. Now he will face Sherrod Brown in the general election in November. We don’t need another Drumpf acolyte to become a U.S. senator like that loathsome J.D. Vance from Ohio. One from this state is enough!
Oh, I forgot to mention that spring officially arrives tonight at 11:06 p.m., according to the Daily News. Today’s weather was definitely not springlike at all. Let’s hope the weather improves very soon. So happy spring, everyone!
Tomorrow we’re seeing our adopted “niece,” “Esther,” for dinner since we need to provide her details about taking care of Atticus this weekend when we drive to Weston, Massachusetts, to see Elliot’s daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. Esther has agreed to stay in our apartment for the weekend, so we also need to supply her with the keys to the place at that time. Thus I might not be writing a blog tomorrow if she stays too long. Let’s see what happens.
Stay safe and be well.
