Today is Tuesday, March 26, 2024. A positive news story, finally: the former Republican National Committee (RNC) chair Ronna “MAGA” McDaniel was ousted by NBC News just days she was supposed to be hired as a political analyst by the network. However, the backlash against her hiring from the network’s top television anchors like Rachel Maddow, Chris Hayes, and the like contributed to her being rejected. This decision by NBC News to hire this election denier and Dump acolyte was a terrible one and I’m glad it went through. The online CNN article by Oliver Darcy and Jon Passantino outlines the many reasons why she would have been a bad fit for the network. Their article is entitled “NBC News ousts Ronna McDaniel after network’s anchors launch unprecedented on-air rebellion.”

The main reason why these top-notch anchors protested her hiring was over her nefarious role in subverting the 2020 election and her numerous attacks on the press. NBCUniversal News Group President Cesar Conde said in a memo to staff, “There is no doubt that the last several days have been difficult for the News Group. After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor.”

Conde continued, “I want to personally apologize to our team members who felt we let them down. While this was a collective recommendation by some members of our leadership team, I approved it and take full responsibility for it.” I can’t even fathom why NBC News would even consider hiring her, given her record as a MAGA nutcase. The news should have been the last employer to be considered in her quest to make a fucking quick buck!

The reversal to get McDaniel onboard comes after journalists and anchors at both NBC and its cable news sibling MSNBC publicly denounced the decision to hire her as a paid analyst in a stunning and unprecedented on-air rebuke of network brass that has embarrassed the Peacock Network.

McDaniel, who recently stepped down from the RNC chair under pressure from the Orange Jesus, was involved in attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

A more detailed description of what this fascist did stems from a phone call she made in 2020 to pressure Michigan county officials not to certify the vote from the Detroit area, where Joe Biden had a commanding lead. McDaniel told the officials, regarding the certification: “Do not sign it. . . . We will get you attorneys.” She was advocating open rebellion here to our democratic principles.

In the years since, McDaniel continued to falsely claim that the election had “problems” and that Biden did not legitimately win the election, fanning the flames of election denialism.

One of the early critics of McDaniels’ hiring, Chuck Todd, NBC News’ chief political analyst, delivered a stinging criticism of NBC executives for their decision to employ McDaniel, explaining that under McDaniel, the RNC engaged in “gaslighting” and “character assassination” when engaging with the news media.

The following day, MSNBC hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough joined Todd in protesting the decision on their program Morning Joe.

“To be clear, we believe NBC News should seek out conservative Republican voices to provide balance in their election coverage, but it should be conservative Republicans, not a person who used her position of power to be an antidemocracy election denier,” Brzezinski said. “We hope NBC will reconsider its decision. It goes without saying that she will not be a guest on Morning Joe in her capacity as a paid contributor.”

Nicolle Wallace, host of MSNBC’s Deadline: White House, later joined in the rebuke, saying on her program that the network’s decision to hire McDaniel was nothing short of a potential threat to democracy. Well said, Nicolle. You are so correct here.

Wallace told her viewers, “NBC News is, either wittingly or unwittingly, teaching election deniers that what they can do stretches well beyond appearing on our air and interviews to peddle lies about the sanctity and integrity of our elections.”

Even the network’s biggest star, Rachel Maddow, got into the act, calling the decision to retain McDaniel as “inexplicable.” Maddow took issue with McDaniels’ long track record of demonizing the news media, labeling the press as “fake news,” and launching ugly attacks on NBC News journalists and MSNBC hosts.

With all of the pushback against her, McDaniel will no longer be associated with a prestigious news organization like NBC News. I applaud the actions of a very vocal group of journalists and network anchors who voiced their vehement objections to the hiring of this despicable woman. What the hell was this NBCUniversal News Group chair Cesar Conde thinking of when he gave the go-ahead to hire this election denier? Didn’t he do any research on her at all? Maybe this guy should be given the boot as well! Let McDaniel get a job as a bathroom attendant instead where she clean up the filth that she spewed as chair of the RNC.

Today marked the Supreme Court hearing arguments over the abortion drug mifepristone and from what I’ve read and heard, it seems as if this “Extreme” Court seemed skeptical of adopting a nationwide ban or even limiting the drug, the primary drug used for medication abortions. This should be alarming to all women who have lost their reproductive rights as a result of this far-right court whose majority was appointed, primarily, by Donald Duck and his enabler, “Bitch” McConnell.

The case was the first abortion-related hearing since the court reversed Roe v. Wade and the proceedings at times went into detail of the process and any complications of the use of medication abortion.

This first case after the reversal of reproductive rights in June 2022 illustrates how far antiabortion activists will go to end medication abortion and, perhaps, all kinds of abortions for women. This case, according to experts on MSNBC, should not have even gone so far up the channel, especially to the Supreme Court.

The case challenging the Federal Drug Administration (FDA)’s approval of mifepristone and subsequent access changes was filed in the Amarillo Division of U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Texas, where U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk – an appointee of the Orange Jesus who had previously worked for a religious liberty legal organization – is assigned to hear all cases under local rules.

That the challenge to mifepristone reached the Supreme Court in such a short amount of time was no accident – a result of the “judge shopping” phenomenon seen most recently on major political issues including health care, firearms, and abortion.

This time, it looks as if the Supreme Court will do the right thing: allow mifepristone to be used as a medication abortion aid and not issue a nationwide ban of the drug that would deprive millions of women of the drug.
