Today is Friday, March 29, 2024. In the wake of the tragic shooting of a young NYPD police officer earlier this week, an alleged “law and order” presidential candidate made an impromptu visit to his grieving family out on Massapequa on Thursday. The presence of this loathsome figure right here on Long Island received coverage in a Daily News article by Dave Goldiner entitled “2 different visits to N.Y.: Don capitalizes at cop’s wake; Joe capitalizes at fundraiser.”
I hope this charade on the part of Drumpf doesn’t influence any new voters as of yesterday since any true observer can point out what his January 6th insurrection truly entailed: a fucking disrespect for law and order as hundreds of Capitol Police officers were maimed and injured during the melee, with at least one death occurring soon afterward. Actually, four officers committed suicide as a result of the trauma experienced that day. So when this Orange Turd decides to take advantage of this gruesome photo op by attending the wake of young Diller as he lay in repose at a funeral home on the Island, let’s hope no one was influenced by this crass grab of potential votes because of it. The insurrectionist ironically pronounced yesterday when he was asked to make a statement at the wake: “We need to get back to law and order.” Here the statement is rendered while this man faces 91 criminal charges during four potential trials. Let’s get back to law and order, you say. What about having one of your trials go on instead of you desperately trying to delay them as long as possible. If you’re innocent as you relentlessly claim, you would welcome one of those trials to proceed as quickly as possible. But we know that you’re not!
As for respecting law and order, why do you continue to threaten judges, and now, judges’ daughters, as well as potential jurors, who have been appointed to oversee your numerous criminal trials? Does this sound like a law-and-order candidate for president? I dare say not at all! You have threatened these court officials so maliciously that several judges have instituted gag orders on you. Do you think that’s appropriate behavior from a candidate running for the highest office in the land?
As for the optics of the Orange Turd attending Diller’s wake, Doug Muzzio, a New York political analyst, said, “He’s [Dump] selling the message that I’m here for the regular people and that plays to his advantage.” Muzzio added, “The image of him celebrating an officer’s life may have resonance to many people.” Again, I doubt he’s made more fans with this stunt. But his regular acolytes will have fallen for his appearance in New York yesterday without any hint of irony attached to it.
An analyst with Inside Elections, Jacob Rusbashkin, said Chump wants to underline his working-class roots, even though he’s a billionaire and lives in Florida. As radio host Howard Stern aptly pointed out so many times already, Drumpf has only contempt for these people. It’s purely all show: this alleged concern for the problems of the little man.
Even though President Joe Biden was elsewhere yesterday: he was attending a star-studded fundraiser for his reelection campaign with two former presidents at Radio City Music Hall, he did call Mayor Eric Adams earlier on Thursday and asked him to pass on condolences to the family of Diller.
Also en route to New York, on Air Force One, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said Biden has been a strong supporter of law enforcement and has presided over declining crime rates since taking office. The other side would have you think otherwise since they always sow fear and anxiety among the electorate over the issue of crime.
Jean-Pierre said, “Our hearts go out to the officer’s family and the broader NYPD family who have tragically lost one of their own. The president grieves for them and honors their sacrifice.”
In the meantime, Drumpf’s campaign exploited the “stark contrast” between their candidate and Biden.
A Drumpf campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, said, “Trump will be honoring the legacy of Officer Diller and paying respects.” He referred to the appearance of three living presidents on the stage at Radio City Music Hall as the “Three Stooges,” a reference to the classic comedy trio from the 1950s and 1960s. He also stated that the trio attracted only an audience of “elitist, out-of-touch celebrity benefactors.” Oh, and this Orange Turd is not going to have his own celebrity fundraisers himself during his anemic campaign? But he can’t attract Hollywood types to his galas since many people in Tinsel Town hate him. He can only appeal to has-been celebrities like Kid Rock, Kanye West, and Roseanne Barr. It seems that he has the backing of Dennis Quaid even. Didn’t know that. Actor Jon Voight has always been a supporter too.
Anyway, it’s getting late here and I have to watch Atticus. Not too long ago, he accidentally turned on one of the burners on the stove. Is he trying to burn the apartment down? I hope not.
Have a good weekend.
Stay safe and be well.

Here Atticus is sitting on a blue bowl under a Campfire marshmallow box. Isn’t he sooo cute?
