Today is Wednesday, April 24, 2024. We have breaking news out of Arizona and it’s a bombshell: Arizona prosecutors have filed criminal charges against at least 20 people over the 2020 election subversion scheme and some of the names include former chief of staff Mark Meadows, former disgraced New York mayor Rudy “Ghoul”iani, and others. This late-breaking news dominated the airwaves on MSNBC just a few minutes ago. A CNN online news article brings the story to the American public; it’s “Arizona prosecutors file criminal charges over 2020 election subversion scheme,” and it’s written by Zachary Cohen and Holmes Lybrand.
Thus a grand jury has brought criminal charges against former allies of the disgraced ex-president over their efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss, including the fake electors from that state and several individuals connected to his campaign.
Here are some of those individuals mentioned in that indictment: Boris Epshteyn, a former White House aide who remains one of Drumpf’s closest advisers, former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Rudy Giuliani are among those who have been indicted, according to a source familiar with the investigation. Another name in this indictment is former Drumpf campaign lawyer, Jenna Ellis. All I can say is who will be first to turn state’s evidence on Donald J. Trump. Maybe Ghouliani will finally realize that at age 79 or 80, it’s not the best time to be sent to fucking jail.
In this far-ranging indictment, Donald Drumpf is named as an unindicted coconspirator. In this case, there was probably not enough evidence to indict the son of a bitch.
This is the end of the article since it’s late breaking. But it is quite explosive, in my opinion, since it seems to corroborate the case out of Georgia that appears to have been put on hold indefinitely, thanks to Drumpf and other factors.
In the meantime, we have the continuing trial of the former president in Manhattan’s criminal court that is into its first week of hearing testimony from witnesses. As we were away this weekend, we experienced a news blackout while staying in Silver Spring, Maryland, because the television in our room at the Holiday Inn Express somehow didn’t have MSNBC or CNN, so we were forced to watch classic movies on either Turner Classic Movies or some other station that we don’t have here in New York.
One of those first witnesses was former American Media CEO and National Enquirer publisher David Pecker who gave very damaging testimony on Day 2 of the trial, which was on Tuesday. The court recessed today.
An article in today’s Daily News provides highlights from that damning testimony from former Drumpf ally, Pecker, who spent a long day on the witness stand. The article is by Molly Crane-Newman and Josephine Stratman and it’s entitled “Awful Day in Court for Don, & His Att’y: Media big shot tells jurors how he manipulated coverage to aid Trump; judge berates lawyer after client’s attack on witnesses.”
“Before the trial resumed, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan heard arguments from prosecutors requesting that the former president be held in criminal contempt for violating an order prohibiting him from publicly attacking trial participants.”
During this hearing, prosecutors rattled off the Dump’s Truth Social posts that clearly violated the gag order in which the thug disparaged jurors and key witnesses Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels, where Assistant District Attorney Chris Conroy asked Merchan to impose thousands of dollars in sanctions and issue a stern warning to Dump, who he said had violated his order “repeatedly,” posing “a very real threat.”
At one point, the judge pointedly criticized Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanche for offering no rational argument that his client did not violate the order consistently, as indicated by the prosecuting team. He tells Blanche, “You’re losing all credibility. I have to tell you that right now. You are losing all credibility with the court.” Here Drumpf’s lawyer Mr. Blanche must have literally blanched when getting slammed by Judge Merchan. For some inexplicable reason, Merchan reserved reaching a decision on Drumpf’s punishment.
Then it was time for Pecker to take the stand. Here he told a story about how the two egoists met way back in the 1980s when they first met at Mar-a-Lago and then worked to augment their respective pocketbooks.
When Drumpf appeared on TV’s The Apprentice (which I’m proud never to have watched) around 2003, 2004, Pecker admitted, the reality show was “tremendous help also for my magazines,” and the show propelled his orange-haired friend to be nationally known “as the boss.”
Pecker continued to frame how he worked to shape the public’s perception of the Orange Menace as far back as 2007, when he said Drumpf first told him that “if there [were] any rumors in the marketplace,” he should “call Michael Cohen directly.”
Then prosecutors zeroed in on the August 2015 meeting where they allege the hush money scheme to hide damaging information about the buffoon from the voters was launched at Trump Tower. Those present at this nefarious meeting were Pecker, Cohen, Dump, and former White House aide Hope Hicks (who is another key witness at the trial) who popped in and out of the meeting.
At the meeting, it was determined that Pecker would publish positive stories about Dump and negative stories about his opponents.
Here prosecutors displayed several examples of this strategy to the jury, as negative stories were shown where Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio were slammed in Pecker’s magazines. I feel you don’t need magazine articles in this instance since Cruz and Rubio can easily shoot themselves in the foot anyway.
You remember those ridiculous tales linking Cruz’s father with the death of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Rubio’s cocaine connection. If they had mentioned Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz here instead of Rubio, that would have been more plausible.
In the year to follow, Pecker said the scheme netted the $30,000 buyout of a story a Trump Tower doorman was looking to sell, claiming Dump fathered an illegitimate child with a maid at Trump Tower. This was probably untrue since Trump would never go near just a maid to inseminate her with his sperm. And Pecker did determine it was “absolutely, 1,000% untrue,” but they still bought it in case it was sold to another publication. We couldn’t have that!
In the months before the 2016 election, Pecker heard about Playboy model Karen McDougal, who claimed she had a yearlong “romantic” (ewwww!) affair with Trump early into his marriage to Melanoma.
In another case, Michael Cohen admitted to violating campaign finance laws by paying porn star Daniels $130,000 to stay mum about a decade-old one-night stand and an assortment of other crimes.
The 34 felony counts Drumpf is facing arise from his falsifying his New York business records in 2017 in paying back Cohen for the hush money payoff to Daniels as part of a wide-ranging scheme to defraud voters.
Tomorrow is another day in court for the pathological liar. Maybe Judge Merchan will finally rule in Drumpf violating his gag order over and over. I’d love to see him go to jail, wouldn’t you?
Tomorrow also marks the “Extreme” Court hearing Drumpf’s stupid arguments about total immunity. It’s absurd that this horrible court waited this long to argue the case, thus delaying one of his four trials indefinitely. Americans should be outraged by how long the court took here in making a decision. I’m hearing a projection from a pundit on MSNBC right now who says that the court won’t expedite their ruling in this matter, despite how crucial the case is to be held before Election Day, not after. And, of course, Justice Thomas will still not recuse himself. Fucker!
Stay safe and be well.
