Today is Tuesday, May 14, 2024. In relation to the ongoing trial of the first former president taking place right here in Manhattan, a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that a majority of Americans (52 percent) believe Donald Drumpf “falsif[ied] business records to conceal a hush money payment to a porn star” which is the charge at the center of his ongoing criminal trial brought against him by District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The results of this poll are covered in an online article for Yahoo News by Andrew Romano entitled “New Yahoo News/YouGov poll: With Trump’s trial underway, most Americans now believe he falsified records to hide hush money payment.”

This most recent percentage represents a new high – and a significant increase from previous Yahoo News/YouGov polls conducted before courtroom testimony began last month, suggesting that coverage of the trial may be shifting perceptions of Trump’s conduct. Hell, yes; finally. What does it take before Americans finally accept Donald Dump as a craven, corrupt, and – even – criminal member of the human race?

If the jury eventually agrees, Dump could become the first former U.S. president convicted of a felony.

In contrast, only 22 percent of Americans say Drumpf did not falsify business records to hide a hush money payment to an adult film star. This probably represents his diehard MAGA zombies who will vote for him, no matter what.

The new survey of 1,794 U.S. adults, which was conducted from May 10 to 13, also shows a dip in the former president’s favorable rating – from 45 percent in March to 41 percent today.

The latest numbers show increasing acceptance of the prosecution’s case against Dump. Fewer Americans are claiming that Drumpf is being specifically targeted by the Democrats, which is what alternate-reality MAGAs would hope most Americans would accept as the rationale for the case.

What is also revealed in this new poll is that the number of Americans who believe key witness claims are true is much higher than the number who accept they’re false.

What is even more positive is that a majority of Americans now say that they would approve (51%) rather than disapprove (36%) of Trump being sentenced to prison if found guilty. (The charges against him are punishable by up to four years in prison.) Asked if the judge, Juan Merchan, should jail Trump for any further violations of his gag order – the court has already fined him for verbally attacking jurors – most Americans say yes (54%) rather than no (31%).

What is so jarring about this poll is that in a head-to-head matchup, both Drumpf and Biden still remain tied among registered voters, just like they were last month, at 45% to 45%.

But when voters are asked which candidate they would vote for “if Trump is convicted of a serious crime in the coming months,” just 39 percent say the former insurrectionist – while Biden’s backing ticks up 1 point in that scenario, to 46 percent, giving him a 7-point advantage. This is quite encouraging in this crucial election.

Who doesn’t think the appearance of MAGA Mike at the end of Donald Duck’s trial today is the lowest point in his benighted political career? The shitbag decided to put his two cents in on the proceedings going on in a Manhattan court room involving the Orange Turd, throwing his symbolic weight around as the top Republican in the legislative branch putting in a good word for his Dear Leader. This, to me, is an apparent abuse of power in MAGA Mike’s debasing performance outside the courtroom today. I can’t believe Democrats are silent about this disgusting display of power by the House Speaker of Congress. Where is their criticism of this partisan show of support for an unethical former president?

In statements released to the world outside the courtroom, MAGA Mike had the balls to say, “The people are losing faith, right now, in this country, in our institutions.” Americans were “losing faith in our system of justice. And the reason for that is because they see it being abused as it is being done here in New York.” The overly weird House Speaker should really take into consideration this new poll that was just released that indicates that a majority of Americans have not lost faith in the justice system and actually believe Donald Duck is a potential felon and has falsified his business records in pursuit of a crime. He really should shut his mouth and let the justice system run its course! What fucking meddling from a top repugnican member of Congress. It’s disgraceful! This is another point just made tonight on MSNBC over Johnson’s inappropriate pitch for the demented former president. His presence here in New York shows he’s actually defending a sexual predator and someone who allegedly cheated on his dim wife with a porn star, and this is an evangelical and Southern Baptist white-bread guy – who looks like Clark Kent – who can’t even countenance pornography without flagellating himself! Do you see something wrong with this image?
