Today is Thursday, May 30, 2024. Well, folks, the verdict is in! I got my wish and Donald J. Duck has been found guilty on all 34 felony counts in New York. I was watching MSNBC when Ari Melber read all the guilty votes for the former president who now becomes the first commander in chief found guilty on 34 felony counts. I couldn’t believe my ears when all counts Melber read were “guilty.” I didn’t expect such an outcome; I expected Drumpf to receive some “not guiltys,” but I was proved wrong with this unanimous verdict. I then shouted “guilty” myself through the window. I believe this recitation of guilty verdicts came in around 4:40 p.m. So this was quite a momentous day for the rule of law right here in my hometown, New York.
The jury deliberated for nearly 12 hours over two days. Originally, the judge did not expect a verdict as early as 4:30 p.m., since he told the courtroom the jury would be dismissed at 4:30, with the expectation that the jurors would resume their deliberations on Friday. Then word came that the jurors had indeed reached a verdict. Luckily, Elliot and I were home to hear the dramatic news. I had just returned from a visit to my dentist that I dreaded. But everything was all right, thank God.
As you would expect, the now-convicted felon slammed the legal system as being rigged against him instead of taking responsibility for his unlawful actions. The fucking buffoon talked about the real verdict is now going to be on November 5 when people go into their polling places to cast ballots against him on Election Day. He tiredly and unconvincingly portrayed himself as a “very innocent man.” So would Hitler if he did not commit suicide before being hauled into a courtroom to face justice for his ghastly atrocities. `
Judge Juan Merchan set Drumpf’s sentencing date for July 11, 2024, at 10 a.m., just days before the start of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Will these shameful “ReTrumpicans” be rational enough to kick Dump out of the convention and nominate someone else who has not been convicted of a crime? Could we believe that? Most assuredly not, I’m afraid.
The reason I feel that ReTrumpicans will not change their fucking tune about Drumpf is the message sent out by repugnant House Speaker MAGA Mike who had the balls to shamelessly say, “Today is a shameful day in American history.” The Clark Kent of evangelical speakers stupidly said that the case was “a purely political exercise, not a legal one.” This jerk should know better not to comment on the outcome of a court case in which the legal system worked to the maximum effect. A jury of 12 ordinary individuals heard the evidence dispassionately about a sleazy scheme orchestrated by a former president intended for him to win the White House in 2016. And they were able to reach a verdict without bias or unfairness.
As for a possible sentence, Merchan could sentence Drumpf to probation (I hope not) or up to 4 years on each count in state prison, with a maximum of 20 years. But we all know that Drumpf appeals everything at the drop of a hat, and this verdict is no different. Drumpf and his legal team will definitely appeal this guilty verdict, which could delay his sentencing on July 11. What is even more unthinkable is that Drumpf, despite his record as a convicted felon, could still be elected president. So this country is still not out of the woods in relation to this tremendously unfit presidential candidate. We still might have to wait for Election Day to see if his conviction will persuade right-thinking voters to reject him at the ballot box.
Stay safe and be well.

Here is convicted felon Donald J. Duck. This is definitely not a flattering picture of the Orange Turd, don’t you think?
