Today is Friday, June 28, 2024, the day after the Debate from Hell aired into our living rooms on CNN at 9 p.m. I have to admit that I was quite surprised over President Joe Biden’s faltering performance, to say it charitably, which was pitted against a lying son of a bitch who refused to tell the truth once during those long ninety minutes. As for that opponent on the left, I started to scream at him as soon as he opened his lying pouty mouth. I screamed for most of the length of the debate before it was over. All I remember about Dump is that he refused to answer several questions directly posed to him by either the moderators of the debate, Jake Tapper or Dana Bash. He dodged and deflected constantly and spoke gibberish because nothing was true, nothing! Dump had the audacity to call Biden the “worst president” when that appellation should have definitely been directed toward his own orange visage.
On the other hand, Biden stammered, sputtered, and went off-topic generally. To provide a more detailed analysis of what went down in this ghastly debate, Zachary B. Wolf provides one for CNN on my smartphone from “Key lines from CNN’s presidential debate explain why Democrats are concerned.”
Wolf called the president’s debate performance as “halting and, at times, trailed off and confused words, feeding a nagging narrative about his fitness for the presidency.”
As I mentioned above, former president Donald Drumpf “refused to answer simple questions about accepting election results and repeatedly overinflated his record, confirming concerns about the chaos his potential victory in November could create.”
Instead of discussing how to lower the staggering cost of child care, the two men engaged in a back-and-forth about whether presidential scholars think Dump was the worst president in history. He was!
At one point, Biden called Dump a “whiner.” Trump said Biden, “like so many politicians . . . is just a complainer.” Here he’s again describing himself as usual, using that defense mechanism known as “projection.”
Later, a question about whether either of the elderly men on stage is fit to lead the country turned into a dispute about who is the better golfer. Who cares about this? I doubt anyone listening to the debate would agree that this was an important issue.
For his part, Dump lied about how the economy was great under his administration – until the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Then Dump tried to blame inflation entirely on Biden who mentioned that inflation was not an issue four years ago because the economy was in such bad shape as a result of the coronavirus.
A point where Biden trailed off was when he was trying to explain that he supports tax increases for the wealthiest Americans to pay for many social goals, but his words got jumbled. Wolf quotes his jumbled words here, but there’s no need to repeat them here since it’s obvious that Biden doesn’t make sense with what he truly intended to say.
The biggest lie that Dump made in the debate was his contention that “everybody wanted Roe v. Wade overturned, which is not true at all since opinion polls suggested most Americans wanted it kept in place.” Shame on the Orange Turd!
Other lies Drumpf made was that the country had the safest border under him. He again made the ludicrous claim that Biden “opened up our country to people that are from prisons, people that are from mental institutions, insane asylum, terrorists.” Not true at all! This is classic Dump pandering to his deluded base.
Biden certainly got a rise out of Dump when he correctly said that he called veterans “losers” and “suckers.” Dump tried to deny this, but we all know he did say this at numerous occasions.
What disqualifies the Orange Turd from ever getting close to the White House again is when Tapper asked Dump what he would say to voters who worry he violated his oath to uphold the Constitution on January 6, 2021, with his actions and inactions, and who worry that he’ll do it again. Here the insurrectionist “pointedly did not answer the question,” but then he resorted to deflection and a stupid comment about Biden’s leadership which is fucking absurd.
After the debate, everyone began calling for Biden to drop out of the race. Even The New York Times in an editorial called on Biden to remove himself from the presidential race. What do you feel? Why don’t you let me know somehow, some way.
As for me, if no one can convince Biden to slowly fade into the woodwork before November 5, I would still vote for him in a heartbeat over anyone with the name of Donald J. Trump.
Stay safe and be well.
