Today is Wednesday, July 17, 2024. In an online Raw Story article by Kathleen Culliton entitled ‘Scared to death’: Many Republicans are silently shuddering at Trump’s VP pick,” it’s revealed that many powerful Republicans are privately horrified and frustrated by ear-bandage Dump’s choice of running mate in the upcoming presidential election, according to a new report.
“Senator J.D. Vance’s isolationist views both alarm and infuriate hawkish Republicans who fear the 39-year-old will destroy the Republican Party’s longtime foreign policy consensus,” Politico reported today.
Columnist Jonathan Martin writes, “Trump didn’t just select a running mate here – he doused political kerosene on the raging Republican fire over foreign policy.” Martin added, “While toeing the party line and praising Vance in their public comments, in private the interventionists ranged from horrified to merely alarmed that one of the loudest critics of aiding Ukraine could soon be first in line for the presidency.”
One influential Republican member of Congress told Martin, “I’m scared to death.”
Dump’s decision, which represents a victory for his eldest coke-addicted son who lobbied hard for Vance, showcases the lack of influence Republican infighters such as Senator “Bitch” McConnell (R-KY) have on the former insurrectionist, Martin writes.
Martin writes this about McConnell’s response to Dump’s selection of vice president, “[McConnell] had little to say about the Vance pick, only raising an eyebrow when I asked him about it immediately after it became public and declining to speak any further.”
Many republicans presented a unified front in public, but Martin reports a swift shift in mood behind closed doors.
As I’ve written before, Dump’s choice in vice president will benefit Democrats in the upcoming election.
Oh, the wife of terrible J.D. Vance, Usher Vance, the daughter of immigrants, is introducing her husband at the Republican National Convention. Let’s see what her husband rails against in his acceptance speech. I can’t wait!
I can’t wait to retch if I decide to listen to the speech given by Vance. I’ve heard from Rachel Maddow that this “meat and potatoes” guy, as described by his wife Usher, has been helped considerably by tech billionaires in the last few years. I really can’t hear the bullshit spewed by this man about Dump and the campaign to eviscerate America if they win the election in November. I screamed at the set after Vance went on to say that Trump kissed his two sons good night or some such bullshit after he was almost assassinated on July 13. I’ll have to read the synopsis of the speech in the paper tomorrow.
Stay safe and be well.
