Today is Sunday, September 29, 2024. Once Trump always Trump! The terrible debater resorted to repeating insults about Kamala Harris’s mental state today in Erie, Pennsylvania. His horrible GOP allies are actually nervous about this losing strategy, so they have urged him to stay on message – which he can never do – and avoid such attacks after he made similar remarks at a rally the night before. Trump’s desperate appeal to the worst of his base is covered in an online CNN article by Jack Forrest called “Trump repeats insults about Harris’ mental state as some GOP allies urge him to stick to issues.”
This is exactly what this losing candidate said at his rally: “Joe Biden became mentally impaired. It’s sad, but lying Kamala Harris, honestly, I believe she was born that way.” He spurted this garbage out to rallygoers at his Erie, Pennsylvania, rally reprising attacks from the night before in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, where he said, “Kamala is mentally impaired.”
Blaming Harris for illegal immigration taking place under the Biden administration, Dump on Saturday went on to say, “If you think about it, only a mentally disabled person could’ve allowed this to happen to our country.” As you recall, this is the disgusting individual who mocked a disabled reporter years ago, which did not kill his chances of winning the presidential contest in 2016.
Listening to Dump’s diatribe against Harris, some Republicans said the former president should just stick to the issues – a plea they have made repeatedly during his third presidential run.
One of those critics is House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, who has been playing Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to help prepare Ohio Senator JD Vance for Tuesday’s vice presidential debate, told ABC’s This Week that “I think we should stick on the issues” when asked about Trump calling Harris “mentally disabled.”
Finally, one Republican critic of Dump’s crass strategy here, former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, an outspoken Drumpf critic who has rejected the former president’s endorsement in his Senate race, pushed back on Dump’s attacks on Harris. He told CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday that Dump’s comments are “insulting not only to the vice president but to people who actually do have mental disabilities.” So here not only did Little Donnie insult the vice president but all people who truly suffer from mental disabilities, like Trump himself.
One of those ugly repugnicans who would not condemn the former insurrectionist’s insults against Harris is former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who resorted to misinformation in his reply to Harris letting in murderers and rapists, when he said this lie, “Do you think anybody would be mentally stable that would allow 13,000 murders into your own country.” McCarthy is no different from those idiots supporting Trump who spew out this garbage about Biden’s – and not Harris’s since she’s not the president now – failed immigration policies.
CNN reached out to Harris’s campaign about Dump’s most abominable comments, and Sarafina Chitika, a spokesperson for the campaign, responded to the convicted felon’s speech Saturday in a statement, saying, “Donald Trump is finally telling the truth to voters: He’s got nothing ‘inspiring’ to offer the American people, just darkness.”
So there you have it: a contrast between darkness as personified by Dump and JD Vance and light as personified by Harris and Walz. We would be very stupid if we chose the former this November!
It’s another week! And it’s almost October.
Stay safe and be well.
