And So It Goes

Today is Thursday, January 23, 2025, just three days into the second Chump administration, and it already feels like a year, what with a flurry of dizzying executive actions that defy all reason and common sense. All of them are outlined in an online CNN article by Michael Williams entitled “Executive actions Trump has taken so far.” Many of them clearly do not have an easy path to realization, and some of the most significant actions are already facing court challenges.

The Orange Turd signed a number of the measures within hours of returning to the White House, which is surreal on face value. Some of these actions sought to undo portions of his predecessor’s legacy, while others speak to the culture war issues that have invigorated Chump’s base. A number hold international implications like withdrawing from the World Health Organization – a very dumb move – and the Paris climate agreement – even more of a dumb move. The worst action I wrote about yesterday was his pardoning of January 6, 2021, rioters, even though many engaged in violent acts against the Capitol Police. I’m sure the family of Police officer Brian Sicknick who directly died after being involved in protecting the building from Chump supporters would not be happy with the dumb cluck’s action here. He was only 42 at the time of his death.

Fourteen people, including high profile leaders of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers who were convicted for their roles in the attack, had their sentences commuted to time served. Again, these were not misdemeanors, folks. These were serious crimes.

As a fuck-you to his predecessor, Chump rescinded 78 Biden-era executive actions, many of which Joe Biden signed on his first day of his administration. The revoked policies all serve to undermine civil rights of those individuals who work in federal agencies like the one that required these agencies to extend prohibitions on sex discrimination to include sexual orientation and gender identity; another one that required executive branch appointees to sign an ethics pledge, which sends a clear fucking signal that anything goes with federal employees now, ethics or not; an order that allowed transgender people to serve in the U.S. military; and one order that withdrew Cuba’s designation as a state sponsor of terror.

Another order that will raise the hackles of critics is his attempt to redefine birthright citizenship, which is guaranteed in the Constitution under the 14th Amendment where children of those immigrants born in the United States are automatically granted American citizenship. This action is likely to face legal challenges and could eventually land before the Supreme Court, which is, sadly, in Chump’s pocket, it seems from its summer ruling on presidential immunity that gave the new president unprecedented broad immunity from being prosecuted on actions committed while in office.

All of these moves reflect the small mind of a vengeful, cracked president. His withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO) is quite irrational, given there is emerging news about a new health crisis, bird flu, that has struck certain states here already. Just in July 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Drumpf announced he would withdraw from the organization as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to spread. Not a very wise move, I dare say.

So here are some stupid measures the new president has taken, measures that were taken only because his predecessor had certain policies in effect that he couldn’t agree with because he’s just a vindictive son of a bitch. Boy, are we in for quite a bumpy ride, and it’s not even a week yet since Chump took office.

And so it went!
