And So It Goes

Today is Thursday, March 20, 2025, the first day of spring. I was absent from this venue yesterday because Elliot and I were dining with my relatively newly found cousins on the East Side, on 83rd Street, at a French restaurant called AOC East. We met around 7 and dined for more than two hours; we would have stayed longer if it weren’t for the band that was playing noisily up front that made it difficult to hear “Rivka” and “Dillon” when they spoke. I had to request that both Rivka and Dillon repeat themselves several times since I couldn’t hear them pretty well, and Dillon mentioned that he felt warm toward the end of the evening. So I didn’t ask for another cup of coffee. LOL.

Some of the topics we’ve discussed were our respective trips to Argentina and Aruba, our mutual hatred of Donald Dump, and upcoming trips; Rivka and Dillon mentioned they were going to Albania in May, and I mentioned that I was traveling to the TCM Film Festival in April. I also provided information on my anti-Dump group which is going not in the direction I would like.

There is so much that is odious about this administration right now that I can’t pick the most disgusting. One thing the Orange Ogre did today which is clearly unconstitutional is sign a blatantly illegal executive order dismantling the Department of Education. This agency was created by Congress and it must be dissolved by Congress, not Shitstain Dump.

According to an article by Ron Filipkowski on MeidasTouch on Substack (by the way, I recently started writing for this platform myself a little while ago – this is not a plug for my writing even though it looks like it!), the implications of this order on public education will be staggering if this autocrat gets his way. According to the article, this order “would slash funding for already underfunded schools, likely eliminate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, eliminate programs for students who speak English as a second language, and destroy Pell Grants and federal financial aid for low-income students to pursue higher education. Ironically, the states hardest hit by Trump’s order will be red states.”

The idiot in chief said this on his dismantling of the department: “We’re going to eliminate the Department of Education. It sounds strange, doesn’t it?” No, sir, you do!

Our very own Attorney General Letitia James said, “Trump’s attempt to shut down the U.S. Department of Education will harm tens of millions of students, including disabled and low-income students who rely on this agency to access a quality education, and it’s illegal. We will see this administration in court.”

Critics of this illegal action immediately pounced on the idiot in chief, with one of them being Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) who said, “More bullshit. Trump, you can’t shut down the Dept. of Ed – and you know it. [I’m not so sure of that] Fox News even knows it. So stop it. We know you’re just trying to wear us out. But for the record, I am not overwhelmed. My zone isn’t flooded. I will fight your illegal behavior until the cows come home, and I’m pretty sure the hundreds of thousands of people who’ve contacted my office since you started this nonsense are on the same page.”

Another abominable thing this administration is trying to do is impeach those judges who have ruled against them in recent unethical executive actions. The Tesla founder and DOGE architect (I call him a true fucker, don’t you?) named Elon Musk has publicly gone on record urging that judges be impeached! Have we become a dictatorship yet, folks?

The name of that judge who has inflamed the ire of Shitstain Dump and Muskrat is U.S. District Judge James Boasberg who has ordered the Dump Justice Department (since it is not at all independent anymore since Biden’s leaving office) to obey his order to turn over information about deportations that the Dump administration carried out last weekend. This ongoing story is covered in a CNN online article by Devan Cole entitled “Judge says DOJ’s response to him on deportation flights is ‘woefully inefficient’ and demands more answers.”

This incident follows on the heels of regular citizens in the United States or at the border who have been legally detained, searched, handcuffed, and jailed before finally getting released by Immigration and Customs Service (ICE) with no apology. One such instance concerns German citizen Lucas Sielaff who was driving back to the country from Mexico with his U.S. citizen fiancee when ICE put him in shackles at a border checkpoint and chained him to a bench.

Also, individuals who have been branded as Venezuelan gang leaders with no evidence of such activity have been put on a plane to Venezuela. This appalling lack of due process is just the beginning, folks, of a country like Argentina or Turkey, perhaps, but not here? As the title of an early Sinclair Lewis novel declares, “It can’t happen here!” Or can it?

I’m just hearing on the Rachel Maddow show of another Venezuelan citizen who is a member of the LGBTQ+ community who was seeking asylum here but was deported by the Dump administration to his country because ICE officials stupidly misread some body tattoos on him, erroneously thinking he was a gang member when he clearly wasn’t. Can you believe this shit?

It’s time for some serious uprising of angry citizens here, folks. We won’t be able to take another close-to-four years of this.

And so it went!
