And So It Goes

Today is Tuesday, April 1, 2025. And the joke is on serial propagator Elon Muskrat whose bald attempt to buy an election in Wisconsin fell flat on his cheese hat today as wise voters rejected his bid to win another election that he had no business intervening in. We also had a great day in that Senator Cory Booker passed the record of former Senator Strom Thurmond who took to the Senate floor for an unbelievable 24 hours to oppose civil rights legislation, but this time, a Black senator surpassed his record by speaking for 25-plus hours. Would you say that’s some kind of karma that we just witnessed today? Let’s hope Wisconsin’s win is a harbinger of better days to come.

Let’s begin the momentum to elect Democrats in the midterm elections of 2026. That’s all I will say here since I came home late from my men’s reading club in which we discussed Edith Wharton’s The Custom of the Country. The 90-minute meeting was a master class of English literature, as some of the 40-odd men elucidated magnificently on the merits of Wharton’s 1913 novel. I just listened; I was so awestruck by these erudite men that I eschewed saying anything stupid or droll.

On the negative side, we did lose those two special House seats in Florida, but this is Florida, a big, red state through and through. However, the Democratic candidates failed to lose by 30 points which is how the Orange Man took these districts just only 6 months ago. That is a sobering fact for repugnicans, I believe. That these ugly GOP candidates did not win by a much wider margin which is okay by me.

Maybe there’s room for hope now in the land.

And so it went!
